Preakness Stakes – Black-Eyed Susan & Preakness Double Horse Wager Could Yield Nice Profits
May 15, 2010
One of the special horse bets that will be offered in the horse racing sportsbook this week is a double on the Black-Eyed Susan Stakes, this Friday’s top race of the day, and Saturday’s Preakness.
A similar horse racing bet was offered on Kentucky Derby Weekend with a double wager on the Kentucky Oaks and the Kentucky Derby. In that wager, Blind Luck, who won the Kentucky Oaks as a huge favorite, still managed to key a $56.60 Oaks/Derby Double because the Kentucky Derby winner, Super Saver, was going off at 7 to 1 horse racing odds.
A similar sort of payout could occur with the Black-Eyed Susan/Preakness Double.
Black-Eyed Susan/Preakness Double
Leg A: Black-Eyed Susan Stakes
Where: Pimlico Racecourse
When: May 14th at 5:50 pm EST
1 1/8 miles on dirt
Horses Used: No Such Word, Seeking The Title, Acting Happy, Harissa
Analysis: Tidal Pool is a +130 online horse betting favorite to win the Black-Eyed Susan in the sportsbook, but I’ll be looking for a price in the Black-Eyed Susan. No Such Word figures to get an awesome trip breaking from the rail. Seeking The Title could improve enough to win this race should the pace be swift. Acting Happy is a nice 10 to 1 on the morning line. Her second lifetime race should give those that like her confidence. Her trainer, Richard Dutrow, knows how to get horses ready off of a lay off. Harissa will be the closest horse to Tidal Pool in the early going and is a must use in this double horse wager.
Leg B: Preakness Stakes
Where: Pimlico Racecourse
When: May 15th, 2010
Gates open at 8:00 a.m. EST. First post is 10:30 a.m. EST.
Preakness Post Time is 6:05 pm EST.
1 3/16th miles on dirt
Horses Used: Super Saver, Yawana Twist
Analysis: With Hurricane Ike’s scratch from the 2010 Preakness Stakes field this morning, there just isn’t any other horse that can challenge Super Saver in the speed department. Not only should Super Saver now be a +150 horse wagering favorite in the sportsbook to win, but he should beat the rest of this field by around 5 to 6 lengths.
He’s that much better than any other horse in this. I’m throwing Yawana Twist in the double because he’s got a lot of upside being trained by Richard Dutrow and having run only 4 times so far in his life. Twist could improve enough to possibly challenge Super Saver. The rest of this field cannot.
$6 Double Horse Wager
Combinations: 4 x 2 = 8
Cost: $6 x 8 = $48
