Possibly Parlay – Boston Celtics at Philadelphia 76ers

April 15, 2009

The Celtics have little to nothing to prove as they roll in to Philadelphia tonight with the playoffs inching closer. As I’ve been preaching to my readers all season, the Celtics are a totally different team without Kevin Garnett. The Big Ticket remains bothered by a finicky knee, which has kept him out for large chunks of the season. His energy, ferocity and tenacity are all integral parts of Boston’s championship recipe.

Even without him, however, the Celtics have been winning games. It’s just that they haven’t been overly convincing. Boston is 6-1 SU in their last 7 games, holding victories over Miami, Jersey, Atlanta and Charlotte. However, a glaring 107-76 loss to the Cavaliers still stands on their record.

NBA Betting Trends

-Boston is 6-1 SU in its last 7 games

-The total has gone OVER in 4 of Boston’s last 5 games

-Boston is 4-1 ATS in its last 5 games on the road

-Boston is 15-7 SU in its last 22 games on the road

-Philadelphia is 1-4 ATS in its last 5 games

-Philadelphia is 0-5 SU in its last 5 games

-The total has gone OVER in 4 of Philadelphia’s last 5 games

Rest easy though, betting fans. Philadelphia has done little to nothing to prove they are worthy of your praise. They’ve lost five straight, and almost all of those losses have been convincing. The Sixers are in a miserable funk right now, and you can rest assured that both Paul Pierce and Ray Allen will be looking to assert their dominance heading in to the post-season by beating down the home favorite.

Boston Celtics (60-20) vs. Philadelphia 76ers (40-40)

Tuesday, April 14th — Wachovia Center, Philadelphia — 8:00pm EST

NBA Betting Line: Philadelphia -3 (191)

The TOTAL of 191 seems fairly low. Boston has crested the 100-point mark in four-of-five games, while Philadelphia has hovered around that mark averaging in the high 90’s. the oddsmakers are banking on the idea that both teams will be relying on a heavy play from their benches tonight. Even so, that TOTAL seems too low for my liking with Philadelphia playing at home. The trends say OVER and so do I.

NBA Free Pick: Boston +3 (OVER 191)
