Pistons vs Trailblazers NBA Action
January 7, 2009
The Detroit Pistons travel to Portland to take on the Blazers in what most sports betting fans would agree is an interesting match-up. The Blazers have one of the top players in the NBA in Brandon Roy but Roy is out until mid-January. LeMarcus Aldridge, one of the unsung young players in the league, has been fantastic while Roy has been out. Aldridge had 22 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists in the Blazers’ last game. Center Greg Oden and Rudy Fernandez have stepped up as well for the 20 and 14 straight-up Portland Trailblazers.
But they may have to step up even more to beat the Pistons. Joe Dumars has proven that he’s smarter than NBA betting fans again by making a trade for Allen Iverson and making Iverson work within Detroit’s system. The Pistons are 21 and 11 straight-up this season. That’s a great record considering Chauncey Billups is in Denver. Allen Iverson actually had 18 points and 10 assists in their last game. He leads the team in assists with 5.6 a game. That’s pretty amazing that A-I has become a point-guard, a real point-guard, at this stage in his career. The Pistons are 14 and 18 against the BetOnline online wagering spread this season.
Since the BetOnline Sportsbook hasn’t released online NBA wagering odds yet here are my personal online betting odds for this game:
Detroit Pistons + 3 ½ – 110 O 185 ½ – 110
Portland Trailblazers – 3 ½ – 110 U 185 ½ – 110
Here are a few online NBA betting trends that might help us find a good online bet in this game:
The Detroit Pistons are 0 and 4 against the spread in their last 4 games versus an opponent from the Western Conference.
The Under is 7 and 2 in the Detroit Pistons last 9 games on the road.
The Portland Trailblazers are 13 and 6 against the spread in their last 19 games at home.
The Under is 15 and 5 in the Portland Trailblazers last 20 games overall.
The online betting spread can’t be too high in this game because Brandon Roy is out for the Blazers and Rasheed Wallace is out for the Pistons.
That presents a dilemma for online basketball betting fans. If we go with the Blazers, we know that Iverson could have a big night without Roy in the game. If we go with the Pistons, we know that LeMarcus Aldridge could have a big night without ‘Sheed in the game.
Which team has the upper-hand? To me, it’s the Pistons because Tayshaun Prince should be able to provide good defense against Aldridge while nobody on the Blazers’ squad can defend against Allen Iverson.
I’ll be hoping that when the BetOnline online sportsbook betting odds come out for this game that the Detroit Pistons are the underdog. If they are, I will be making an online bet on them to beat the BetOnline online wagering spread.
