Roar of Eagles was claimed two races ago by Rafael Becerra. Becerra immediately placed Roar of Eagles into an open $25,000 claimer where he finished first after going four wide around the final turn. This fella loves Santa Anita having scored 3 victories out of 4 starts. Becerra is hitting at a 22% win rate. Alex Solis is finally starting to ride like the old Alex Solis. There isn’t a lot not to like about Roar of Eagles except perhaps the slight class hike to optional claimers. At 10 to 1, I’ll take a stab.

Deputy Flyer – - 7/2 morning line odds

Trainer Ron Ellis has found the perfect spot for this 4 year old gelding that broke its maiden at first asking over this track on December 28th. Deputy Flyer has put in some nice works since and Ellis is 29% off the lay-off. The only issue is whether or not this fella can win first time against winners. If he improves slightly, just slightly, this race is his to lose.

Pack Your Bags – - 6/1 morning line odds

This is another 4 year old gelding that could really do something in this race. Sired by Flying Continental, Pack Your Bags finished 3rd two races back in an open $50,000 claimer. He followed that up with a 3rd in a $25,000 optional claimer. Finishing third isn’t always going to yield profits, but Pack Your Bags does get the services of Garret Gomez for this who is winning a quarter of the races he’s riding in. Gomez wouldn’t take the call unless he felt he had a chance.
