Pick 3 of the Day on Wednesday, June 30th, Starts in Race 6 at Belmont Park
June 29, 2010
July 4th is always a huge “weekend” of racing. July 4th falls on a Sunday this year meaning that there’s plenty of time to build the bankroll before the 3rd and the 4th, the two biggest days of racing this week.
I’m going to start to build my bankroll by hopefully hitting a Pick 3 at Belmont Park on Wednesday. The Pick 3 starts in Race 6 and ends in Race 8.
Wednesday’s Pick 3 – June 30th, 2010
Bet on Hollywood Park – Race 6 thru Race 8
- Where: Elmont, NY
- When: Race 6 (Leg 1) – 3:40 pm EST
Race 7 (Leg 2) – 4:12 pm EST
Race 8 (Leg 3) – 4:45 pm EST - TV: TVG and HRTV
Race 6 (Leg 1)
$39,000 Allowance
For Fillies and Mares Three-Years-Old and Upward Foaled in New York State And Approved by the New York State-Bred Registry Which Have Never Won A Race Other Than Maiden, Claiming Or Starter Or Which Have Never Won Two Races
1 mile over dirt
Horses Used: 3-Rogue’s Jewel, 4-Laylaben, 6-Team Plan, 8-Vicarious
Analysis: #10 Wicked Diva will be going off as the big chalk in this but she moves to a route after running in sprint races at Aqueduct.
There’s a ton of speed in here that she may have trouble keeping up with. That’s why Rogues’ Jewel, Laylaben and Vicarious are must uses in my Pick 3. All three are closers and all three have shown races in their past performances that could win this.
They all should be going off at a price as well. Team Plan broke her maiden by grabbing the lead and running off. Then, in her first race against winners she closed from 9 ¼ lengths to get within a length of the eventual winner. She ended up fading to lose by 5 lengths but she did hang on for second. She could improve in her third lifetime race.
Race 7 (Leg 2)
Starter Allowance $50,000
For Fillies and Mares Three-Years-Old and Upward Which Have Started For A Claiming Price Of $50,000 Or Less Or Which Have Never Won A Race Other Than Maiden, Claiming Or Restricted
1 1/16th miles over turf
Horses Used: 7-Chick In Slacks, 8-Settling Seas
Analysis: If nobody goes with #8 Settling Seas, then Kent Desormeaux should bring her home on top. She’s the speed of the speed and is coming off of a 1-length loss after making all of the running in a race on June 16th.
Chick In Slacks has a nice closing kick and looks like the one to beat if a horse challenges Settling Seas early. She hasn’t finished off the board in 4 straight races.
Race 8 (Leg 3)
$35,000 Allowance Optional Claiming
For Three-Year-Olds And Upward Which Have Never Won A Race Other Than Maiden, Claiming, Starter Or Restricted Or Which Have Never Won Two Races Or Optional Claiming Price Of $35,000
6 furlongs on inner turf
Horses Used: 1/1A-Tahoe Warrior/I’ve Got Speed, 3-Southern Exchange, 3-Academy Run
Analysis: Tahoe Warrior goes first time for trainer Rudy Rodriguez who is winning at a 56% clip first after the claim. I’ve Got Speed is 5-1-1 out of 7 lifetime races over Belmont Park’s turf surface.
Southern Exchange takes a steep drop in class for trainer Richard Dutrow and could surprise at a price while Academy Run is the speed of the speed.
4 x 2 x 3 = 24 combinations
$1 Pick 3 = $24
Good luck!
