Philly and the Points Look Good in Portland – Sixers at Blazers

March 23, 2009

The Philadelphia 76ers (35-33 SU, 30-35-2 ATS, 28-35-4 O/U) snapped their two-game losing streak by beating the Sacramento Kings 112-100 as a 5-point road favorite on Sunday.

Philadelphia got a game-high 27 points from swingman Andre Iguodala while the 212 combined points played OVER the posted O/U total (208).

The Portland Trail Blazers (44-26 SU, 36-33 ATS, 32-36-1 O/U) won for the third time in four outings, beating the Milwaukee Bucks 96-84 on Saturday to cover the spread for BetOnline NBA sports betting members as a 3-point road favorite while the 180 combined points played Under the posted O/U total of 193.5 points.

All-star shooting guard Brandon Roy scored a game-high 30 points to lead the Blazers to victory.

Here is a look at tonight’s key trends, followed by my in-depth analysis and NBA Free Picks.

  • The total has gone UNDER in 6 of Philadelphia’s last 7 games when playing Portland

  • Portland is 5-1 ATS in its last 6 games
  • Portland is 9-4 SU in its last 13 games

NBA Odds:

  • Philadelphia 76ers +8 -110
  • Portland Trail Blazers -8 -110
  • Over 190½ -110
  • Under 190½ -110

Analysis: While the Blazers have a fine, 28-6 home record this season, I like the Philadelphia 76ers to cover the spread in this contest as they have won and covered the spread in three of four against the Blazers.

I also like the Under in this matchup as it has played in three straight meetings between these ballclubs and will likely do so again tonight with Portland allowing just under 95 points per game this season.

NBA Free Picks: Sixers +9 Points/Under 190½ Total Points
