72 Hole Group Betting

Group A:  Phil Mickelson +200, Jim Furyk +275, Tim Clark +325, Ben Crane +400, Matt Kuchar +450

Analysis:  Lefty is the obvious choice, but the golf odds are better on both Clark and Furyk.  Forget about Crane and Kuchar in this group because Furyk and Clark do very, very well at Colonial.  I’m backing Furyk because he’s coming off of a 47th place finish at The Players Championship and figures to bounce back with a huge effort in this.  Clark is going to be tough and has to be considered at the odds, but I’ll stick with Furyk to turn it around at Colonial.

Golf free Pick:  Jim Furyk +275

Group B:  Sean O’Hair +325, Hunter Mahan +325, Paul Casey +325, Ian Poulter +325, K.J. Choi +325

Analysis:  Anybody got any ideas?  I can’t think of a tougher group of golfers than who’s staring at me in Group B.  Finding the best golf bet won’t be easy.  I have no knocks against anybody in Group B, but I’ve got that feeling about Paul Casey.  He was hot to begin the year and then tailed off some.  Now, I think he might be ready to get hot again.  I wouldn’t be surprised if either Poulter or O’Hair ended up going off as the favorite in this group meaning that Casey’s golf odds could drift up some.

Golf Pick:  Paul Casey +325

Group C:  Kenny Perry +225, Geoff Ogivly +250, Steve Marino +225, Nick Watney +250

Analysis:  Marino is the play in this group because of his 17 under, 2nd place finish to Steve Stricker in the 2009 Crowne Plaza Invitational.  Perry, Ogilvy and Watney are all good golfers but Marino gets the nod because of his success last year in the tournament.  Marino’s odds might rise before the tournament actually starts as Perry is getting a lot of press for his return to the PGA Tour.

Golf Free Pick:  Steve Marino +225
