PGA Tour – 72 Hole Group Betting for the St. Jude Classic
June 14, 2010
The PGA Tournament a week before a major always sports a terrific field.
The St. Jude Classic this week is no different making it very difficult for sports gamblers to find the best golf bet in the sportsbook.
Why worry? Lower your odds of losing your golf wager by picking the winner in individual 72 Hole Group Golf Betting. Don’t be fooled by believing that you’re going to get bad golf betting odds on the guy you like in 72 Hole Group Betting.
Often times the golfer you like will be going off at very fair golf odds. That’s what makes 72 Hole Group Betting such a fantastic bet.
Who figures to win in the individual groups for the St. Jude Classic?
PGA Tour: St. Jude Classic
- Where: TPC Southwind, Memphis, TN
- When: June 10th thru June 13th, 2010
- TV: Golf Channel and CBS
72 Hold Group Golf Betting
Group A: Lee Westwood +275, Rory McIlroy +300, Robert Allenby +325, Ben Crane +350, Zach Johnson +375
Analysis: This is an amazingly tough group. I’m tossing McIlroy and Westwood because I believe that McIlroy regresses a tad after that 10th place finish at the Memorial last week and that Westwood will be using the St. Jude more as a prep for the U.S. Open than anything else.
Allenby missed the cut at the Memorial but finished 2nd at The Players Championship two PGA Tour Events ago. Still, I’m tossing him as well. That leaves Crane and Johnson.
Crane has been on fire with 3 straight Top 10 finishes, but Johnson was awesome at the Crowne Plaza Invitational. I’m going with Johnson because of the higher than expected group golf betting odds.
Pick: Zach Johnson +375
Group B: Padraig Harrington +300, David Toms +325, Camilo Villegas +325, Brian Gay +325, Heath Slocum +350
Analysis: Paddy, Camilo and Slocum are all throw-outs. I’m not throwing them out because they believe they have no chance, but because I believe that Toms and Gay, the 2nd and 1st place finishers in the 2009 St. Jude Classic, are going to have great tournaments again.
Out of the two, my money will be on Gay even though he’s a sink or swim type of golfer. Gay shot at -18 at last year’s St. Jude Classic. I’ll be wagering that he bounces back from some recent less than stellar finishes.
Pick: Brian Gay +325
Group C: Charl Schwartzel +250, Fredrik Jacobsen +300, Justin Leonard +325, Stephen Ames +350, Kevin Na +350
Analysis: Schwartzel is always tough. I’m not to hot on Leonard and Ames, however. So, I’m lying off of those two guys. I do believe Kevin Na might have a great tournament, but my money is going to end up on Jacobsen in this group. He was the runner-up at the Texas Open is ranked 7th in ball-striking and has finished in the Top 10 at TPC Southwind in the past.
Pick: Fredrik Jacobsen +300
Group D: Robert Karlsson +275, John Senden +300, Boo Weekley +300, J.B. Holmes +325, Tim Petrovic +350
Analysis: Petrovic is an obvious pick to me. He finished 6th at the Texas Open and then 5th at the Memorial last week. He has some decent history at the Memorial as well. I’m taking the hot golfer at the better than expected golf odds of +350 in this group.
Pick: Tim Petrovic +350
