Steve Stricker +700
Stricker continued to emerge as one of golf’s best in 2010, finishing sixth in the World Rankings and fifth on the money list. The American got 2011 off on the right foot, putting in a strong showing at the Hyundai Tournament of Champions at the Kapalua Resort-Plantation Course this weekend, finishing tied for fourth. However, Stricker was rattled in the final round, shooting a 71 to fall out of contention. Last year, he placed third at the Sony Open with a score of 13 under par.
Ernie Els +1,000
Els also excelled at the Hyundai Tournament of Champions this weekend but, like Stricker, fell off the pace after a 74 and a 71 in the final two rounds. He settled for a T-17 finish but did display an excellent approach game, finishing tied for third in greens reached in regulation. Els won back-to-back Sony Open Tournaments in 2003 and 2004 and finished tied for 12th with a score of 8 under par last season.
Jim Furyk +1,000
Furyk is hoping to carry his momentum from 2010 into the new season. He won PGA Tour Player of the Year honors and topped the FedEx Points Standings, winning his first FedExCup. Furyk placed tied for ninth at this weekend’s event, shooting a 14 under par while placing tied for second in driving accuracy. Furyk missed the Sony Open the past two years, but placed tied for 20th in 2008. He also won this tournament back in 1996, firing an 11 under par.
Matt Kuchar +1,500
Kuchar loves that South Pacific breeze, placing sixth at the Hyundai Tournament of Champions this weekend – his second straight Top-6 finish at the event after placing third in 2010’s tournament. Kuchar finished 14 under par after shooting 69, 70, 66, and 69 while posting the fourth-best putting average in the field (1.683). That success at Kapalua has not translated over to the Sony Open, where he has missed the cut in three of the last four years with a 65th-place finish in 2008. Those troubles make backing Kuchar at these PGA online betting odds a risky play.
