PGA Betting – Els, Singh Head Up “Rest Of World” At Honda Classic
March 3, 2011
If you are not an American, or a European, or a Scandinavian, you fall into the category of "Rest of World" when it comes to PGA betting, and Ernie Els and Vijay Singh head up that list at the Honda Classic, which gets underway on Thursday and runs though Sunday at the Champion course at PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens, FL. Singh is the +450 favorite in PGA betting in this category, while Els is +500.

Let me put it to you this way – if you were to offer me a choice between Vijay Singh and Ernie Els – at a better price – at this point in time, it’s kind of tempting to go with Els, listed at +500 in this PGA betting proposition.
Els, for one, has won this tournament as recently as three years ago. However, there are people who are down on him, and I understand that. Els has, for all intents and purposes, played two medal play events this year, and they have been in Hawaii. he has played two rounds of golf since January 16, and those were at the Accenture Match Play. Els is +3000 overall to win the tournament in PGA betting.
Singh, who had only two top ten finishes in 24 events last year and was 57th in FedEx Cup points,, has all of a sudden gotten hot. Encouraged by a tie for 20th place at the Farmers Insurance Open, he tied for third in the Phoenix Open, and was the runner-up, all by himself, in the Northern Trust Open in Los Angeles (oh, excuse me, Pacific Palisades) a couple of weeks ago. In five events this year, Singh has shot only one round that was higher than 72. he is +2500 in PGA betting to be the winner, and +450 in this "Rest of World" category.
Singh won the Honda Classic in 1999, but that was at the TPC at Heron Bay. But he finished in a tie for fourth last year at PGA National, and in 2005 he lost in a playoff at Mirasol, also in Palm Beach Gardens.
This "Rest of World" category is packed with stars. Y.E. Yang, who won the Honda in 2009, and later won the PGA Championship, is at +700 in PGA betting. Camilo Villegas, who won last year’s tournament by five strokes, is +1200 in this prop. Jhonattan Vegas, who is second in FedEx Cup points, is +1100.
Then you have a bunch of former major champions who are almost off the radar. Louis Ossthuizen, who won the British Open just last year, is +1200 in the PGA betting odds in this category, and that should give you an indication as to how strong this field is. Angel Cabrera, who has won the Masters AND U.S. Open, is +2000. Trevor Immelman, a former Masters champ, is +2300. Mike Weir, the Canadian who also won the Masters, is +4000. Nick Price competes this week, and the former world #1 who has three major titles under his belt is +5000 for the "Rest of World" in this PGA betting category.
PGA betting will be lots of fun this week at BetOnline Sportsbook!
