Pesky Bucks – Atlanta at Milwaukee

April 8, 2009

Screw You, Milwaukee! Bucks Face Atlanta Hawks At Home

Whomever second guesses the Bucks as a stepping stone is an idiot. This team has been screwing with the betting community all season. First they were amazing, ranking third against the spread as we closed the first quarter of NBA betting. Then they went a bit cold heading in to All-Star break, and after Michael Redd went down, the Bucks became horrific. And now, for no apparent reason, they’re a solid pick again. Shoot me in the face. Please.

To make matters more difficult is Atlanta’s woes on the road recently. They were on a tremendous hot streak until a loss to Philadelphia derailed them. They’re not 1-5 SU in their last 6 one the road, and playing a team they’ve only beaten twice on the road. You may love Atlanta, but Milwaukee has their number.

NBA Betting Trends:

  • Atlanta is 2-5 SU in its last 7 games
  • Atlanta is 1-5 SU in its last 6 games on the road
  • Atlanta is 4-2 SU in its last 6 games when playing Milwaukee
  • Milwaukee is 3-13 ATS in its last 16 games
  • Milwaukee is 1-8 SU in its last 9 games
  • Milwaukee is 2-7 ATS in its last 9 games at home
  • Milwaukee is 17-2 SU in its last 19 games when playing at home against Atlanta

Even the NBA oddsmakers don’t know what to do with this one. Bucks? Hawks? Who knows. One team should be better, and the other team is a waste of time. So they didn’t even bother setting a line. Follow the SU record of both teams and take the Bucks. Atlanta hasn’t been able to get it done on the road, and Milwaukee is at least playing at home.

Atlanta Hawks (44-34) vs Milwaukee Bucks (32-46)
Wednesday, April 8th — Bradley Center, Milwaukee — 8:00pm EST
NBA Betting Line: EVEN (197)

Both teams can score like crazy, even with the injuries. Both teams played about two months ago, and they’ve pushed the OVER in that game and for the three before that. I’d say that this is a low scoring affair, but the trends are telling me differently. Give the nod to the home team, and side with the OVER as the trends dictate.

NBA Free Pick: Milwaukee (OVER)
