Horse Racing: Derby Preps Highlight Saturday Stakes Action
There are two key Kentucky Derby preps on the wagering menu on Saturday, one on dirt and the other on a synthetic surface, and they are separated by 3000 miles.
At Tampa Bay Downs, a field of seven three year olds will go 1 1/16 miles on the main track in the $225,000 Sam F. Davis Stakes (G3), a prep for the marquee event of the meet, the $300,000 Tampa Bay Derby (G3) on March 13.
Later over the Pro Ride surface at Santa Anita, a field of five promising three year olds will go 1 1/16 miles in the $150,000 Robert B.

Weekend Stakes Horse Racing Betting: No Rains Means that Santa Anita Will Be Rocking on Saturday
The rains have finally left Southern California. Well, we hope they have. We don’t mind rain out here in SoCal, but when it’s too wet, horseplayers end up having to handicap short fields.
It’s hard to find an overlay in a short field. Santa Anita canceled racing last Saturday which is a damn shame, but those stakes races they intended to run last Saturday didn’t just drift into the ether.

SAP OPEN BETTING TIPS: Verdasco vs. Becker
San Jose, California – Second seed Fernando Verdasco eyes a spot in the SAP Open quarterfinals but standing in his way is journeyman player, Germany’s Benjamin Becker.
Verdasco has not quite hit his stride this season, at least not in the same manner in which he did at the beginning of last term when he stormed into the Aussie Open semi-finals and delivered perhaps one of the best Grand Slam semi contests (against Nadal) of the season.
