Orlando Magic vs Atlanta Hawks – NBA Playoff Odds

May 7, 2010

The second round NBA playoff betting best of seven battle between the Orlando Magic and Atlanta Hawks resumes from the Phillips Arena where the Magic will look to take a stranglehold of the series and go up 3-0; tip is set for 5:00 ET and the game can be seen nationally on ESPN.

After throwing a beat down of epic proportions in Game 1 of this series, the Magic rallied back from a 57-49 deficit at the break and cruised to a very impressive 112-98 home win and cover in Game 2. Orlando outscored Atlanta 63-41 in the second half and allowed them to tally just 15 points in the final 12 minutes of play to win and cover their sixth straight playoff betting match-up.

#2 Orlando Magic (62-23, 51-35-2 ATS) vs. #3 Atlanta Hawks (57-34, 52-39 ATS)

NBA Playoff Odds:
Orlando Magic -2
Atlanta Hawks +2
Game Total 195

Being forced to ride the pine for a majority of the Magic’s 1st round match-up with the Charlotte Bobcats certainly wasn’t a good omen for the Hawks heading into this series, as C Dwight Howard has been simply unstoppable.

Superman has scored a total of 50 points and hauled in 29 overall rebounds throughout the first two battles of this series. He’s also blocked a total of six shots, but most importantly, he’s remained on the court by not fouling out.

Five players registered double-digits on Thursday night, and four of them went for 20+. Not many teams in this league have the ability to do that every given night, but HC Stan Van Gundy’s outfit looks to be an entirely different breed thus far.

It was understandable for the Hawks to get wiped off the floor in Game 1 of this NBA playoff betting series considering they were just pushed to seven games in the 1st round against the Milwaukee Bucks.

They had proven to be a resilient club throughout the season off a 10+ point defeat, but the Magic was just too much for them in the second half.

C Al Horford was the Hawks star in Game 2 scoring 24 points and ripping down 10 boards, but Joe Johnson once again had a terrible shooting night (5/16) and Mike Bibby scored a whopping three points.

With the arsenal the Magic packs with them every game, the Hawks need their top six scorers to all notch at the very least 10 points per game.

NBA Playoff Insider Tip: I’ll just come right out and say it, “I’d be shocked if this series gets back to Orlando!” That’s right, I have this series already pegged as yet another sweep for the Magic who just seem to be playing at a higher level than any other team in the post-season both at home and on the road.

The Hawks played a spectacular 24 minutes of basketball against them in Game 2, yet still ended up losing by double-digits.

The Magic just flat out have this team’s number winning eight of the L/9 meetings both SU & ATS. Atlanta’s lone win came in March of this year when they scored the 86-84 home win and cover as one-point favorites. If they can hold Orlando to 80+ points in this spot and win, I’ll tip my cap to them and back the truck up on the Magic in Game 4.

Until then, show me you can beat this club let alone stay within four possessions! I dare ya…

My NBA Playoff Prediction: Orlando Magic by 8
