** Records and stats not counting Thursday night games.

New Orleans Hornets (32-22) at Orlando Magic (34-20)

Where: Amway Center, Orlando, Florida

When: 7:00 pm EST

Fair NBA Odds: Orlando -7 ½

Analysis: I just don’t see how the Hornets come close to covering the online sports betting spread versus the Orlando Magic on Friday given the fact that both Trevor Ariza and Emeka Okafor will likely be out. New Orleans has had trouble stopping any team from scoring since the two players got injured. The Hornets are 0 and 7 ATS in their last 7 games overall.

They’re 1 and 4 ATS in their last 5 games playing on 1 day of rest. Orlando is 5 and 2 ATS in their last 7 Friday games. Sure, the Magic is 0-5-1 ATS in their last 6 games versus a team with a winning straight up record, but New Orleans is in dire straights right now. The Hornets are in trouble and the Magic figure to capitalize on that fact.

Los Angeles Clippers (20-32) at Cleveland Cavaliers (8-45)

Where: Quicken Loans Arena, Cleveland, Ohio

When: 7:30 pm EST

Fair NBA Odds: Cleveland moneyline

Analysis: It’s time for the Kurtz-like horror to end, don’t you think? Cleveland deserves something good to happen to them. The trends actually favor Cleveland, in a way, on Friday night. The Cavs are 3-0-1 ATS in their last 4 games as an underdog.

They should be offering at least +120 on the NBA moneyline odds as well meaning that the Cavs are a good team to back to win this game straight up. Again, the horror has to end eventually this season. How about it ends versus the other worse franchise in NBA history?

Miami Heat (38-14) at Detroit Pistons (20-33)

Where: The Palace of Auburn Hills, Auburn Hills, Michigan

When: 7:30 pm EST

Fair NBA Odds: Detroit +5 ½

Analysis: There are some interesting basketball betting trends that favor the Detroit Pistons versus the spread on Friday night. Yes, Miami is awesome. The Heat have won 8 out of their last 10 games overall, but Miami is only 6 and 4 ATS in those 10 victories and Detroit is 14 and 11 versus the spread at home this season.

The Pistons are also 4 and 1 ATS in their last 5 games versus a team with a winning percentage above .600. I’ll take the points on the home team on Friday night because I believe that Miami is going to start having trouble on the road versus bad teams, like they’ve done before this season, very, very soon.
