St. John’s Red Storm @ Marquette Golden Eagles
Tuesday February 15, 2011 – 9:00 PM ET
Bradley Center, Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Online Sportsbook Betting Odds: St. John’s -6, Marquette +6
The same can be said about a Golden Eagles’ team that has beaten both Notre Dame and Syracuse at home, but have struggled in losses to DePaul and Rutgers. Marquette is just a game back of the Red Storm in the middle of the pack in the Big East, and a win would move them among ranked teams such as Connecticut and Villanova.
Online Sportsbook Betting: What St. John’s Will Have To Do To Win?
The Red Storm have strung together consecutive wins against No. 9 Connecticut and Cincinnati that have them on the map in the Big East once again, and while catching the No. 4 Pittsburgh Panthers for the top spot is still out of the question, there is a chance that they can break in to the top-four. The Red Storm didn’t hit a single field goal in the final 8:58 of their 59-57 win over Cincinnati, but managed to hold on with a stingy defense and the ability to get to the line. Dwight Hardy continues to impress for St. John’s, and had 18 points in the win.
Online Sportsbook Betting: What Marquette Will Have To Do To Win?
The Golden Eagles have lost two of their last three games, but that was during a thre-game road trip and both of those losses came against ranked opponents. It won’t be the same story over the next few days with visits from both St. John’s and Steon Hall, at home where they have won seven of their last eight games. Darius Johnson-Odom and Jimmy Butler continue to pace the Golden Eagles’ offense with 16.2 and 15.2 points per game respectively, and will continue to be relied on for an attack that ranks 23 in the nation with an average of 77.8 points per game.
Online Sportsbook Betting: Outlook & Pick
The Red Storm have pulled off some big upsets so far this season, but even this one will be tough for a St. John’s team that has been very inconsistent. Marquette has the chance to move in to a tie in the middle of the Big East standings, and if they can find a way to close on the Red Storm’s scoring the way that Cincinnati was able to in the final minutes, then they should be able to squeeze out a close one.
Online Sportsbook Betting Pick: Marquette +6
