Online Sports Betting Picks – San Diego State Will Close Out The Regular Season With A Win

March 5, 2011

With the Online Sports Betting college basketball season coming to a close, now is the time to get your final bets of the regular season in!

With it, can the improbable season of San Diego State continue, as they close out the year hosting Colorado State?

Colorado State Rams (19-10 SU, 17-9-1 ATS) at No. 9 San Diego State Aztecs (28-2 SU, 17-11 ATS)

Saturday, March 5: 10:00 p.m.

The Aztecs have been one of the great surprises of the college basketball betting season, as a program that has never won an NCAA Tournament game all of a sudden finds itself ranked in the Top 10 and playing for high seed in the big dance. This is a deep and experienced group, led by one of the most underrated players in the sport, Kawhi Leonard.

Simply put, if you don’t about Leonard, you better get to know him in a hurry, as he’s one of the elite talents in the sport, and could lead San Diego State deep into the NCAA Tournament as an Online Sports Betting favorite. The sophomore from Riverside, CA is averaging 15 points and over 10 rebounds per game, the latter number ranks him in the Top 10 nationally.

Still, no one gets to 28-2 without some other help, as the Aztecs get contributions from all over the court. D.J. Gay may be the key cog, as the senior point guard is steady, averaging over three assists per game. Fellow senior Malcolm Thomas helps Leonard in the middle, ripping down eight boards a game.

With that said, what chance does Colorado State have in the Online Sports Betting odds Saturday? A better one than you’d think. The Rams are playing hard, and could use a signature win, in hopes of getting an NCAA Tournament at-large bid.

The Rams strength is their efficiency in the half-court. While they won’t wow you with raw athleticism, Colorado State is still one of the best offensive teams in the country, averaging 72 points per game, and shooting over 47 percent from the field, which ranks them in the Top 25 nationally. Forward Andy Ogide leads this club with over 17 points and eight boards per game.

And it’s because Ogide and the Rams offense that we actually like them to cover the Online Sports Betting odds this weekend.

Now we’re not saying Colorado State will win straight up, because honestly we’re not sure they will. But they can score points in bunches, and Ogide is one of the few big guys in the Mountain West that can handle Leonard down low. Also, it’s important to note that as good as San Diego State is, they’re not great at covering big point totals, going just 5-5 against the spread in their last 10 games.

At home, we expect San Diego State to win this game. But playing with a sense of urgency, and having the key advantages we mentioned, we expect Colorado State to keep things close. Make the Rams your Online Sports Betting pick!
