Online Sports Betting – #4 Pittsburgh Wants Opportunity For Redemption

February 5, 2011

Online sports bettors who are following Big East play know that the Pittsburgh Panthers have been looking for an opportunity to redeem themselves after losing their last game at the Petersen Athletic Center. On Saturday they will attempt to do just that as they meet the Cincinnati Bearcats in a game that begins at 6 PM ET. Pittsburgh is the fourth-ranked team in the country and has lost only twelve times in this building since it opened, so it is likely that they’ll lay quite a few points in this one.

·       Cincinnati has covered two of its last seven games
·       Cincinnati has played ten of its last 12 games UNDER the total
·       Cincinnati has lost 17 of its last 25 road games SU
·       Cincinnati has played its last five road games UNDER the total
·       Pittsburgh has won ten of its last 11 games SU
·       Pittsburgh has won 14 of its last 16 home games SU
·       Pittsburgh has won six of the last seven meetings SU
·       The last four meetings have gone OVER the total

Some online sports bettors thought the Pitt Panthers looked like they might be poised to challenge for the #1 spot, upon any slip-up by Ohio State; that is, until Notre Dame came into town. The Irish, with experience and a lot of shooters, took a genuine slowdown approach against them that was characterized by the ESPN analysts as a "burn offense," because it burned time off the clock and gave some of Notre Dame’s players some rest on the offensive end. the result was a 56-51 Notre Dame victory at a pace that totally took Pitt out of its element, and made them losers as a 10.5-point favorite in online sports betting.

Obviously Mike Bray thought there was something that told him he could get away with such a thing against Pitt, and he was right. Now, after the Panthers struggled mightily against a Rutgers team that does that same kind of thing out of necessity under coach Mike Rice, they come upon a Cincinnati team that rode this approach to a national ranking as the Bearcats won their first 15 games. Granted, when they started to encounter conference opposition the losses started to come, and those have been rather decisive (none of the four defeats has been by less than eight points) but that’s okay. We might be catching enough points to make this worth our while, and remember that Cincy is a hard-nosed defensive crew with a bruiser up front (Vancey Gates) who can bang with Pitt’s people. Let’s grab the points in online sports betting action and watch Cincinnati turn this one into a dogfight.
