Missouri Tigers @ Nebraska Cornhuskers

Tuesday March 1, 2011 – 8:00 PM ET

Bob Devaney Sports Center, Lincoln, Nebraska

Broadcast: ESPN3

Online Sports Betting Odds: Nebraska -1.5

The Tigers have lost five of their last six road games, with a 76-70 victory over the Iowa State Cyclones the lone exception. Missouri did take the first of two meetings between these programs at home earlier this season, so there is reason to believe that they can earn a crucial road victory in this spot.

Online Sports Betting: What Missouri Will Have To Do To Win

The Tigers will win if leading scorer Marcus Denmon can torch the Cornhuskers the way that he did the first time these teams met, when he scored 27 points including five three-point shots in a 77-69 win. Denmon shot 50-percent from beyond the arc in that win, but will need more help from his teammates for Missouri to have any shot of winning on the road. The Tigers are just 1-6 in Big 12 road games this season, and despite a strong effort from Denmon they had no answer at the defensive end of the floor against Jacob Pullen and a tough Kansas State team their last time out. Any chance of winning this game will come down to slowing Lance Jeter and company.

Online Sports Betting: What Nebraska Will Have To Do To Win

Nebraska will win this game if they are able to continue to find a way to slow down the Tigers’ offense on the road. Missouri has averaged 75 points in Big 12 road games compared to 81 at home, so defense will be the key. This will be the Cornhuskers’ final home game as a member of the Big 12, and although this season has not gone as planned Jeter and company will be determined to snap out of a two-game slide with a big win. The senior guard scored a career-high 27 points including hit five three-point shots in an overtime loss to the Iowa State Cyclones on Saturday, which makes it consecutive losses on the heels of three straight wins that included a tough win over the Texas Longhorns.

Outlook & Online Sports Betting Pick

The Tigers will try to avoid heading in to their season finale against the Jayhawks on the heels of consecutive losses, which would mean extending Nebraska’s losing streak to three, which is a tall order in itself. The Cornhuskers had no answer for Denmon the first time these teams met, and if he can get some help it should be enough to help Missouri earn just its second Big 12 road win this season.
