Online Sports Betting – Excitement Builds as Top Seeds Come Out To Play Friday
March 11, 2011
With the opening rounds of the conference tournaments now in the books, online sports betting cappers know it’s time for the big boys to come out and play. 22 of the top 25 teams in the country will take to the hard court on Friday looking to move forward in their push for a conference title. Here is a look at four of those matchups.
Colorado Buffaloes @ Kansas Jayhawks
Friday, 7:00 PM ET
The second-ranked Jayhawks barely escaped a trip to Colorado earlier this season, prevailing 82-78, but it was a completely different story in the second meeting of the year between these teams. Kansas blew away Colorado 89-63 at the Phog in mid-February, a game in which Markieff Morris led five starters that reached double-figures with a career-high 26 points. The Morris brothers will need to be at their best to avoid an upset after barely getting past Oklahoma State in their first Big 12 tournament game on Thursday, in which the Cowboys missed a last second shot in a 63-62 final.
Online Sports Betting Pick: Colorado +12
Louisville Cardinals @ Notre Dame Fighting Irish
Friday, 9:00 PM ET
The Fighting Irish were one of the hottest teams in the nation to close out the regular season, and carried over that momentum into their first Big East postseason game with an 89-51 win over the Cincinnati Bearcats. Notre Dame has won five straight and 12 of their last 13 games, and that 38-point margin was the second-largest ever in a Big East tournament game. Ben Hansbrough has been the biggest reason for the success of the Fighting Irish, and had 23 points in their most recent win. This team is much more than a one-trick pony however, and will need to be at their best after being pushed to double-overtime against the Cardinals earlier this year.
Online Sports Betting Pick: Notre Dame -1
Maryland Terrapins @ Duke Blue Devils
Friday, 7:00 PM ET
The defending national champions have been criticized all year, and after falling to the North Carolina Tar Heels in the season finale to concede the top seed in the ACC tournament, the Blue Devils enter the postseason with a major chip on their shoulder. Duke will look to make a statement against a Terrapins’ team that they swept during the regular season. The Blue Devils won those games by a combined 25 points, and will look to get back on track for a long postseason by beating Maryland a third straight time.
Online Sports Betting Pick: Duke -9
New Mexico Lobos @ Brigham Young Cougars
Friday, 9:00 PM ET
The eighth-ranked Cougars lost just two games against conference opponents all year, which makes it that much more ironic that they will face New Mexico in the Mountain West semi-finals. The Lobos dropped BYU in both of their meeting this season, sweeping the series by a combined 27 points including an 82-64 blowout at the Marriott Center just over a week ago. To be fair, that loss happened just one day after the Cougars lost forward Brandon Davies for the remainder of the season due to suspension, and the team was reeling at the time. Still, it almost cost them the top seed in the MWC. Rarely does a lower seed beat a top seed three times in the same year, and for BYU this game should be about revenge.
Online Sports Betting Pick: BYU -4
