Notre Dame vs. Michigan Pick – Which Coach Sucks More?
September 12, 2009
When you talk about college football, it’s hard to keep Notre Dame and Michigan out of the discussion. But the two years past have proven that even the mightiest can become pedestrian. In 2007, Notre Dame went 3-9 SU as Charlie Weis’s terrible recruiting and scouting talents came to light. In 2008, it was Michigan that went 3-9 SU as Rich Rodriguez matriculated over to replace Lloyd Carr. Now both teams are ready to seize back control of their destinies, but only one team will survive this weekend.
For all the crap that Weis has received for recruiting some piss poor talent, one of the only saving graces he has is Jimmie Clausen, who threw for 315 yards and four touchdowns last weekend as the Fighting Irish pummeled Nevada 35-0. Clausen is on a short list of young quarterbacks coming in to their own, and he’s proving to the boosters in Notre Dame that they can hold on to Charlie Weis for at least one more season. Against Michigan, he’ll have a chance to prove to his football betting backers that he can handle the big stage of The Big House.
Notre Dame Fighting Irish (1-0) vs. Michigan Wolverines (1-0)

NCAAF Betting Line: Notre Dame -3 (48.5)
Michigan had hoped that Sam McGuffie, the Youtube sensation from Texas, could be the running back savior the Wolverines had waited for. But three concussions later, and McGuffie was released, transferring instead to Rice to be closer to his family. Now the Wolverines have a virtually empty backfield, as a quarterback competition continues.
Right now Tate Forcier is the leading man in Michigan, and his three touchdown debut over Western Michigan has some buzzing that he could rescue Michigan’s hopes this season. Well, I hate to say it, but Notre Dame is going to smack Michigan upside the head and throw their dreams in the dirt.
By the way, keep your eye on Malcolm Floyd, the electric receiver that Clausen targets frequently. This guy makes plays, and will destroy Michigan single handedly as their defense scrambles to find ways to contain Floyd as Notre Dame rips past Michigan.
Furious Free Pick: Notre Dame -3 (UNDER 48.3)
