Nolasco outshines Buehrle in MLB Interleague betting Friday night
May 21, 2010
The 2010 MLB Interleague baseball betting schedule kicks off for both the Florida Marlins and Chicago White Sox when they meet up at US Cellular Field on Friday night.
The Marlins enter the first of this three-game set off a pair of splits against both the Arizona Diamondbacks and St. Louis Cardinals; they’re 7-3 (+$434) their L/10 games played.
Manager Ozzie Guillen’s club has been scuffling of late winning just four of their L/10 games (-$225) and just got swept in their mini two-game home series against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.
These teams last met in 2007 with Florida taking two of three in tonight’s venue; the Marlins hold a 4-2 advantage in their all-time series with the Palehose.
Florida Marlins (22-20, +$19) vs. Chicago White Sox (16-24, -$1095)
- Game Date/Time: Friday, May 21st, 8:10 ET
- Game Location: US Cellular Field, Chicago, IL
- TV/Radio Broadcast: Fox-Florida, WCIU, XM
MLB Baseball Odds:
Florida Marlins +1’ -200 Even (Ricky Nolasco – R)
Chicago White Sox -1’ +170 -120 (Mark Buehrle – L)
Total: 8 O -115 8 U -105
Getting the starting nod for the ninth time this season will be RHP Ricky Nolasco. He’s 4-2 on the year with a 3.59 ERA & 1.12 WHIP having given up 48 hits and 21 ER’s with a K/BB ratio of 38/11 through 52.2 total innings of work; Florida is 5-3 with him leading its charge.
Ricky earned a victory in his last start against the Mets, but he was awfully upset at his stat line. He ended up surrendering just six hits and three runs (2 ER) through six IP. He was most upset with not being sharp.
Still, the righty has been exceptional on the road this season going 3-0 with a 1.76 ERA & 0.88 WHIP against the Phillies, Rockies, and Cubs; Florida’s won all four of his road starts in 2010. This will be his first career look at the White Sox.
Mark Buehrle looked well on his way to snagging his third win of the season and first since April 11th against the Kansas City Royals his last time out, but a 1-0 lead in the 6th quickly turned for the worst and the southpaw was tagged with his fifth defeat of the season.
Hoping to get luckier tonight, Buehrle will take to the “The Cell’s” bump for the fifth time this season where he’s 2-1 on the year with a 4.23 ERA & 1.23 WHIP allowing 28 hits and 13 ER’s through 27.2 total IP; Chicago’s 2-2 in his home starts this season.
Like his opponent, this will be his first career outing against the Marlins offense.
MLB Insider Tip: Florida has defeated each of the L/5 left-handers its opposed and is 16-7
The L/23 times it was installed an underdog.
Chicago has been a huge disappointment to start the season, and I really don’t foresee it getting any better in the short term. Florida’s a winning ball club at the moment in both the NL East and Wild Card races.
They boast the better overall offense and a starting pitcher that hasn’t been marred with bad luck or ineffectiveness. Chicago’s still living on the fact that it was a solid road team the last couple seasons. They should NOT be favored here, and the MLB Interleague betting public will see why after the Fish easily take Game 1 of this series.
My MLB Prediction: Florida Marlins (Nolasco)
