While Penn State has hardly been an Online Sportsbook betting juggernaut like their opponents on Tuesday, it’s important to note that the Bryce Jordan Center remains one of the toughest places to play in the conference. Penn State is 13-4 at home this year, with wins over Wisconsin, Minnesota, Michigan State and Illinois amongst others.
And everything starts with senior guard Tailor Battle. While Battle isn’t lumped in as one of the elite players in college basketball, that’s exactly what he’s become, as currently he’s averaging over 20 points to lead Penn State. The problem of course for the Nittany Lions is everyone else on the roster, as they rank just 285th nationally in points per game, putting up just 64 a contest. You read that correctly, Battle accounts for almost a third of their offense. Penn State is also one of college basketball’s worst rebounding teams as well, ranking just 311th nationally in that category.
This club has yet to score 70 points in Big Ten play.
That’s especially bad news in the Online Sportsbook picks against an Ohio State club which prides itself on their defense. Ohio State ranks No. 11 nationally in scoring defense, allowing just 59.5 a contest. They’re coming off an excellent effort on Sunday, when they held Indiana to just 61 points on a meager 38 percent shooting from the field.
Of course this team is, and always will be known for their offensive scorers, which is just one more reason why we’ve got to take them in our Online Sportsbook picks.
For those of you who haven’t followed the Buckeyes this year, they’re led by freshman superstar Jared Sullinger, who is averaging a cool 17.8 points per game. What makes this club so impressive though, is their depth. With Sullinger battling foul trouble all game long on Sunday, it was little used freshman DeShaun Thomas who stepped up with a career-high 22 points. Guards William Buford, David Lighty and Jon Diebler each average in double-figures.
While this Ohio State team might not be overly deep, the guys they do have are simply phenomenal basketball betting players. After all, there’s a reason that they’re No. 1 in the country heading into the final week of the regular season.
