Tampa Bay (10-7-8) at Boston (13-8-5) 7 PM Eastern
Despite many injuries, the Boston Bruins attempt to continue their home dominance of the Tampa Bay Lightning on Wednesday when the teams open their season series. Boston enters this contest winners of five of its last six games since the return of center Marc Savard and left wing Milan Lucic.
On Saturday, Boston Bruins pulled off a nail biter against Ottawa, winning 4-3 in a shootout as Tim Thomas made all four stops. Thomas has won four of five games against Tampa Bay (10-7-8) at TD Garden, posting a 2.05 GAA. Thomas was also included on the injury list earlier in the season, and has returned with solid play.
- Bruins are 5-1 in their last 6 Wednesday games.
- Bruins are 37-14 in their last 51 vs. a team with a losing record.
- Bruins are 38-16 in their last 54 when their opponent scores 2 goals or less in their previous game.
- Bruins are 4-9 in their last 13 games following a win.
The Lightning, 2-3-2 in their last seven, are looking to avoid their first three-game skid since opening the season 0-1-2. In their last game, they lost 3-0 to Colorado—the first time they were blanked this season—while coming up empty on seven power-play chances on Monday.

If Tampa Bay is to have any shot at all winning this contest, they will need scoring from right wing Martin St. Louis and center Vincent Lecavalier, who are having a tough time scoring this season.
The duo has only 10 goals this season and failed to produce a point in the last two games. Lecavalier has played well at Boston, scoring nine goals and 11 assists in 20 contests, however, St. Louis has been held to three goals and five assists in 17 games.
- Lightning are 7-21 in their last 28 Wednesday games.
- Lightning are 20-51 in their last 71 vs. Eastern Conference.
- Lightning are 29-63 in their last 92 vs. Northeast.
- Lightning are 8-20 in their last 28 games following a loss of 3 or more goals.
The Skinny: The Lightning deflate BetUS bankrolls when playing away from home, where they are a money dropping 17-50 in their last 67 road games. The Bruins have dominated Tampa Bay at home, winning seven of nine and going 22-3-0 with six ties all-time. They went 3-1-0 against the Lightning last season, winning both meetings at Beantown, where they are a dismal 2-15-4 in the last 21 meetings in Boston.
Home cooking should fuel the big bad Bruins to a fast start which will be trouble for Tampa Bay, who are not a team that can play from behind. And, the Lightning are 15-39 in their last 54 games playing on 1 days rest, going 17-42 in their last 59 overall. This should be an easy victory for the boys from Beantown!
