NHL Betting – Three Game Saturday Parlay Pick
Game 1 Preview: Edmonton Oilers at Dallas Stars
The Oilers were blown out by Vancouver last Saturday, but were able to bounce back with a big road win against Detroit on Thursday. The Oilers are one of the NHL’s most injury-plagued teams, with Nikolai Khabibulin, Ales Hemsky and Mike Comrie all spending time on the shelf. The injury to Khabibulin has given the Oilers a long look at goalie Jeff Deslauriers, who has looked both good and bad. Good was his shutout against Phoenix on November 23 rd; bad was being pulled against Vancouver last week. His consistency is key to the Oilers success.
The Stars are coming off a big home win against Anaheim on Wednesday. Dallas scored three times in the third for the 3-1 win. The Stars are a team in transition, and those late-game wins are big morale boosters for their younger players. James “Real Deal” Neal is one of those young ones, and he’s certainly living up to his nickname. He scored against the Ducks and has 12 on the season.
Pick: Dallas Stars
Game 2 Preview: Detroit Red Wings at New Jersey Devils
The Red Wings have lost five of six and are coming off a 4-1 loss to Edmonton on Thursday. Losing to Edmonton is rare for Detroit, they were 7-0-5 against the Oil before Thursday’s affair. Jimmy Howard is expected to make another start. He’s been the Wings workhorse recently and has played solid enough to stay in the lineup. In his last five games, Howard has three wins and a GAA under 3.00.
The Devils had their six-game home win streak snapped on Wednesday against the Canucks, but remain a force in New Jersey. Martin Brodeur is starting to play like he really, really want to start for Team Canada in 2010. His nine wins in the month of November ranked among the highest in the league. But what might push the Devils over the top in the future will be the return of some of their veterans. Rob Niedermayer returned to lineup on Wednesday, and Johnny Oduya and Jay Pandolfo aren’t far behind.
Pick: New Jersey Devils
Game 3 Preview: Colorado Avalanche at Columbus Blue Jackets
The Avs lost to the Penguins 4-1 on Thursday, but it’s not much to look into considering the Penguins are once again one of the hottest teams in the league. Colorado has cooled off a bit from their hot start, but still remain an elite team in the West.
However they have look just ordinary when Craig Anderson isn’t playing. Anderson got hurt on Wednesday, and Peter Budaj is likely to receive the next couple of starts. Anderson’s prompt return is crucial for the Avs.
The Blue Jackets are reeling; they were crushed 6-3 against the Maple Leafs on Thursday and are looking worse and worse by the day. They’ve won only once in their past eight and Steve Mason is really struggling in his sophomore season. Last season’s Calder Trophy Winner has won only once since November 21 st and is sporting a GAA above 3.50. In fact he was pulled after allowing four goals on 14 shots against the Leafs. If he doesn’t pick it up soon, Columbus’ season will end very early.
Pick: Colorado Avalanche
