Minnesota traded for veteran wide receiver Randy Moss last week, bringing him back to his original team in order to team up with Brett Favre and give Minnesota back its vertical passing attack that has been missing without former No. 1 wideout Sidney Rice.

Unfortunately, the Vikes will have to deal with more than New York’s voracious defense with Hall of Fame-bound quarterback Brett Favre currently embroiled in what could turn out to be an ugly sexual harassment case which the NFL is actively investigating.

Minnesota Vikings (1-2 SU, 1-2 ATS, 0-3 O/U)

  • Vikings are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games in Week 5.
  • Vikings are 4-1 ATS vs. a team with a winning record.
  • Vikings are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 road games.

The Vikings snapped a two-game losing streak by beating the Detroit Lions 24-10 on September 26 but failed to cash in against the NFL spread betting line as a 13-point home favorite while playing Under the O/U total for the third straight game.

New York Jets (3-1 SU, 3-1 ATS, 3-1 O/U)

  • Jets are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games as a favorite of 3.5-10.0 points.
  • Jets are 4-1 ATS vs. a team with a losing record.
  • Jets are 7-2 ATS in their last 9 games overall.
  • Jets are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games as a favorite.

The Jets won their third consecutive game by spanking the Buffalo Bills 38-14 to cash in against the NFL spread football betting odds as a slight 5.5-point road favorite while playing Over the set O/U total for the third straight contest.

Mark Sanchez threw two TD passes in the win while future Hall of Fame running back LaDainian Tomlinson rushed for 133 yards and two touchdowns on just 19 carries.

Analysis: NFL fans everywhere are absolutely fired up about this matchup as they are waiting to see what the Favre-Moss combination can do together, but I’m going on record right now to say that the Vikings are going to have a very tough way to go against the Jets’ overwhelming defense.

Not only that, but New York is also ranked first in rushing and fourth in scoring (26.5 ppg) and I believe they are going to lean heavily on their rushing attack while draining the clock and keeping Favre and Moss on the sidelines.

The Vikings have gone 1-4 ATS in their last five road games while the Jets have gone a polar opposite 4-1 ATS against a team with a losing record and 7-2 against the pro football spread betting line in their last nine games overall.

While this contest looks a bit like it could very well come down to a three-point difference, I am going to urge the BetOnline NFL betting community to back the Jets to narrowly cash in against the spread betting odds by getting another strong performance from Mark Sanchez as the young quarterback has thrown eight touchdown passes and no interceptions over his last three games.

Bet NFL Pick: New York Jets -4.5 Points
