NFL Spread Betting – Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Cincinnati Bengals on MNF

November 8, 2010

Going 0-2 ATS in their last two games has not deterred too many experts and public bettors from the Pittsburgh Steelers as an NFL betting pick. Ben Roethlisberger will try to prove that his team isn’t slipping after a close win against Miami and a blowout loss to the Saints as they visit the lowly Cincinnati Bengals in an AFC North matchup in prime time.

Roethlisberger has been fine in his return, but his teammates have not been exceptional. All momentum they had from playing as a team when he was serving a suspension has somewhat vanished. Heath Miller fumbled the ball in the fourth against the Saints, and Rashard Mendenhall couldn’t punch a couple goal line carries in the past two games that killed the NFL betting spread for those that bet on Pittsburgh.

A lot of the betting trends are slapping the downtrodden Bengals in the face right now. Cincinnati is just 1-8 SU and 1-7-1 ATS when hosting the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Bengals are also terrible at covering when at Paul Brown Stadium. Not only have they gone 0-4 SU and ATS in their past 4 games, they’re also 1-6 ATS in their past 7 games at home.

There’s simply been nothing going on in Cincinnati that has elicited a decent amount of momentum or encouragement. Fans in the Cincinnati area probably wish Chad Ochocinco and Terrell Owens would concentrate more on beating opponents, winnings games and covering for them in NFL spread betting.

NFL Spread Betting Line – Pittsburgh -5.0 (41)

Distractions have surprisingly not been a part of the Cincinnati drama this season. Instead, it’s been terrible football. Even with the arrival of Owens, the Bengals ranks 18th in the league with just 20.9 points per game and are heading in to a Monday Night Football showdown with the best scoring defense in the league. Pittsburgh allows just 14.6 points against on average.

It’s not that Carson Palmer has been short on yards, because he has plenty of those this season. But he’s also been making brutal decisions, and that won’t make his life easier with Pittsburgh bearing down on him. Anyone who’s still dumb enough to risk their NFL spread betting lives on the Bengals should be terrified of Palmer’s inability to find ways to win.

You can’t overlook the fact that Pittsburgh lost one of those “kitchen sink” style games against New Orleans. What I mean is that the Saints could not have played better than that, and Pittsburgh still had life on the scoreboard.

With vengeance on their mind, Pittsburgh backers can rest easy on Monday Night with an easy victory over the listless Bengals. Hopefully this game will rightfully put an end to Cincinnati’s inexplicable game lines that are factoring in what the public hasn’t figured out in general – this team stinks.

A very tight number on this game shouldn’t be a problem as Pittsburgh does enough to give their investors an NFL spread betting victory, while their defense smothers the Bengals in their own house to secure the UNDER.
