NFL Sportsbook Week 3 Picks – Cowboys vs Texans
September 25, 2010
Week 3 in the NFL Sportsbook has some interesting matchup’s, one of the more intriguing being a good old fashion Texas showdown as the 0-2 Dallas Cowboys take on the 2-0 Houston Texans.
The Cowboys, who many had as one of their Super Bowl contenders, are fresh off a tough loss at home to the Chicago Bears 27-20 and you know they are about as hungry for a win as any team in the NFL. The NFL Sportsbook has them as a 3-point road underdog with the total set at 47.

Dallas Cowboys vs. Houston Texans (Reliant Stadium – Houston, TX)
Sunday September 26th at 1 PM ET – TV: FOX
Tony Romo was out-duelled on the day by Jay Cutler as the normally INT prone Bears QB didn’t turn the ball over once while Romo tossed up two costly interceptions. He did manage to connect on some big plays, but only threw for one TD on 34 of 51 passes for 374 yards and it cost them a win and Cowboys backers some money in the NFL Sportsbook.
NFL Sportsbook Spread:
Dallas – PS +3 (-125) ML +115
Houston – PS -3 (+105) ML -135
Total – 47
It seems that the Cowboys biggest problem has been their inability to get the running game going. Marion Barber had just 31 yards on 11 carries, and as a team they were only able to muster 36 total rushing yards. That running game, or lack thereof, is ranked 29th in the NFL through the first two weeks and many Cowboys fans are calling for more of Felix Jones who is more of a big play guy.
Speaking of big play guys, Miles Austin hasn’t disappointed his fantasy owners and has been the only guy making Cowboys fans some money if you’re taking prop bets in the NFL Sportsbook on his yardage.

Despite not having any running game at the moment, I think the Cowboys have a chance this week based on how strong their passing offense is, which is ranked second in the league. Combine that with the fact that they are going up against a team with the worst pass defence in the league so far, and it should equate to Tony Romo being able to shred this defence apart.
The Texans know how to put up points themselves, as Matt Schaub is fresh off completing 38 of 52 passes for a whopping 497 yards with three TD’s against the Red Skins. They also have shown they can run the ball with Arian Foster, but they may be forced to abandon that attack if Dallas is able to get out to an early lead.
The way the Cowboys have been playing makes taking them straight up in the NFL Sportsbook a risky move, but that’s how you make big money in this game. They know how huge this game is and will be looking for big plays right from the opening drive. I see this one being a shootout, with the Cowboys coming out on top.
NFL Sportsbook Prediction: Dallas Cowboys (+115)
