NFL Sports Book Odds Favor Fins over Chicago Bears this Thursday

November 18, 2010

The NFL sports betting odds makers have set a betting line that gives the edge to the Miami Dolphins over the Chicago Bears this Thursday, Nov. 18th.

Both teams are coming off of sterling victories. The Bears beat rival Minnesota and their walking wounded quarterback, Brett Favre, 27 to 13 as 1 point favorites while the Miami Dolphins took out the Tennessee Titans and new WR Randy Moss in a 29 to 17 victory as 1 point favorites.

What’s going to happen when the Bears and Dolphins clash on Monday night?

NFL Betting Line

Chicago Bears +1 ½ -110 O 40 ½ -110

Miami Dolphins -1 ½ -110 U 40 ½ -110

The trends favor neither team in this game.

  • The Chicago Bears are 4 and 1 ATS in their last 5 games as the underdog.
  • The Chicago Bears are 3-1-1 ATS in their last 5 games on the road.
  • The Miami Dolphins are 4 and 1 ATS in their last 5 games overall.
  • The Miami Dolphins are 5 and 1 ATS in their last 6 games after accumulating more than 350 total yards in their previous game.

I actually wondered why the Fins are only -1 to -1 ½ NFL sports book odds favorites over the Bears in this game. Then, I remembered that the Dolphins will be without both QB Chad Henne and QB Chad Pennington.

Without the Chads under center, it remains to be seen who the starter for the Dolphins will be on Sunday. The candidates are Tyler Thigpen and Patrick Ramsey.

Yeah…I’m not feeling too comfortable with either one of those guys. I’m not a fan of Chicago’s (how can I be with them being only 4-4-1 ATS on the season?), but QB Jay Cutler is a legitimate starter in this league. That by itself is the reason that the Bears have to be given the benefit of the doubt in this game.

I’ve gone from wondering why the Bears weren’t bigger dogs in this game to becoming ecstatic that their an NFL sports book odds dog at all in this game. Chicago’s offense was very, very good this past Sunday when racking up 27 points, 230 total yards through the air and 130 yards on the ground against Minnesota. Although he threw 2 picks this past Sunday, Cutler looked very relaxed under center and tossed 3 touchdowns and passed for over 230 yards against Minnesota.

The man obviously has become comfortable in the new offensive system. Not only that but the Bears’ D, as opposed to past seasons, might actually be getting stronger later on in the year.

Chicago forced Brett Favre into 3 picks. They held RB Adrian Peterson to 51 yards on 17 carries. Chicago gave up 3 scores but they also dominated when they had to.

The Bears’ D should be too much for young Thigpen (or Ramsey!) and that’s the reason that Chicago is the team to back with an NFL sports book odds wager in this game. The Bears should have no trouble shutting down the Miami offense and scoring enough points, I’m thinking between 24 to 31, to rough up Miami’s D.

I like the Chicago Bears to cover the spread on Thursday night. Make them part of your NFL Week 11 Picks!
