NFL Sports Book – Will Jets Be Fired Up?
December 12, 2010
Many of those who make NFL sports book predictions are expecting that the New York Jets will come out very fired up after being destroyed this past Monday night against the Patriots. The opponent this Sunday is AFC East rival Miami, which has had quite a bit of success on the road. The Dolphins are battling to stay alive for a wild card spot, and they’ve won five of their last six on the road. In the NFL sports book odds, the Jets are a five-point favorite, with the over-under on the game posted at 39 points.
Miami Dolphins (6-6 SU, 7-5 ATS) at New York Jets (9-3 SU, 7-5 ATS)
Live at Meadowlands Stadium
East Rutherford, NJ
Sunday, December 12 — 4:15 PM ET

NFL Sports Book Odds:
N.Y. Jets -5
Miami +5
Total 39
Here are some of the trends as they impact our NFL sports book prediction on this game:
· Miami has played four of its last six games UNDER the total
· Miami has played five of its last six road games UNDER the total
· Miami has won five of its last six road games SU
· New York has played nine of its last eleven games OVER the total
· New York has won nine of its last eleven games SU
· New York has covered two of its last six games
· New York has won four of its last five home games SU
It could not have been worse for the Jets on Monday night. They came out and had NOTHING. They could not stop the New England Patriots, and they could not execute on offense. They lost almost every minute of the game, and came out 45-3 losers. of course, there were no excuses, and they didn’t try to make any. Coach Rex Ryan did talk tough after the game, mentioning about how it was just one loss, one game, and how it didn’t count for any more than that. NFL sports book bettors know a little bit differently, though; they realize that the carry-over from something as devastating as that loss can stick with a team for weeks, even months.

Ryan tried to put the game behind him by holding a mock ceremony to bury the game ball, but there is a lasting effect, in that it does rip the confidence of a team that actually thought it might be good enough to beat the Patriots and assume the #1 spot in the AFC, but found out otherwise.
And now the head-to-head NFL sports book odds that involve these teams:
· Five of the last seven meetings have gone OVER the total
· New York has won 18 of the last 25 meetings SU
· New York is 10-3-1 ATS in the last 14 meetings
· Four of the last six meetings in East Rutherford have gone OVER the total
· New York has won nine of the last 12 meetings SU as the home team

Chad Henne has now thrown 24 touchdown passes and 29 interceptions in his career. He regressed last Sunday when he tossed three interceptions against Cleveland, including one that was returned to the two-yard line and set up the winning field goal for the Browns. Henne continues to look like a guy who’s the quarterback of the future one week, and someone you just want to bench the next week, and NFL sports book players have caught on to it.
The Dolphins exceeded 100 yards rushing for the second straight week, but lost their fifth home game in six tries. At the same time, they held the Raiders and Browns, two of the more efficient rushing teams in the AFC, to a total of 68 yards on the ground, and over the last four weeks they have yielded an average of just 260 yards. In six games on the road, they have lost only to the Baltimore Ravens. The Jets are missing their spiritual leader on defense, safety Jim Leonhard, and they are so thin at that position that they are trying to pull guys in off the street. One of them actually turned them down because he’d rather be a train conductor. That’s how it’s been going for Ryan’s team. We think Miami can keep it close, so we’re taking the points in the NFL sports book odds.
