NFL Betting Odds:

New Orleans: +1 ½

Baltimore: -1 ½

Total: 43 ½

If these past couple weeks are any indication, the early returns seem to favor New Orleans. The Saints have won six in a row coming in, and are getting things done on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball.

Starting with that offense, this group is beginning to take the shape of last year’s Super Bowl champion. On the season, the Saints rank No. 6 in the NFL in scoring offense, averaging 25 points per game, and have scored at least 30 points in each of their last five victories.

Of course the star of this show continues to be All-Pro quarterback Drew Brees, who after a rough start, is against amongst the elite performers at the position. Brees has now thrown for 3,855 yards, which is third in the league behind only Peyton Manning and Philip Rivers.

As for Baltimore, they enter this Sports Betting matchup at a bit of a crossroads in their season. The Ravens are hardly playing great football, having lost two Sunday’s ago to Pittsburgh, before surviving this past Monday night in Houston.

In that game, the Ravens held a comfortable lead for most of the contest, before a fourth quarter meltdown allowed the Texans to score 15 unanswered points, and force the game into overtime. In the extra period, Baltimore just barely survived, after cornerback Josh Wilson returned an interception return for a touchdown.

And what this Sports Betting showdown ultimately comes down to is what the Ravens can do against an improving Saints defense. On defense, the Ravens are fine allowing just 17 points per game, but on offense it’s another story. This season, Baltimore ranks just 18th in total offense at 334.8 yards per game, with their running game ranked just 21st out of 32 NFL teams.

And it’s because of that offense, that it seems like the play here is to stay away from the Ravens and take the Saints in your Sports Betting picks.

The truth is, that as good as this Saints offense has been recently, New Orleans wouldn’t be 10-3 without one of the league’s most surprising defenses. The Saints are allowing just 17 points per game, which ranks fourth in the NFL.

Simply put, Baltimore has struggled to move the ball lately, and is coming off a short week, after playing Monday night. That seems like a doomsday scenario for Ravens fans.

In the end, New Orleans has plenty of offense, but it’s the defense which will be the difference on Sunday afternoon. Look for them to quiet the Ravens, and do enough to secure a Sports Betting victory on the road, in New Orleans.

NFL Sports Betting Pick: New Orleans +1 ½
