NFL Predictions Week 8 – Seven games to Ponder Ahead of Week 8

October 28, 2010

Week seven is in the books and the outcomes have made NFL Predictions Week 8 a rather difficult proposition.

With so much uncertainty, especially amongst quarterbacks, there may be some intriguing underdog bets to consider.

Here are seven games on the Week 8 schedule – a few of which have upset written all over them.

Jacksonville (3-4) at Dallas (1-5) -6 ½: Total – 42 ½ points

The Dallas Cowboys are in a hole deeper than the Chilean miners and yet they are still heavily favored on Sunday. It was evident on Monday night that all of the wind in the Cowboys sails was gone. David Gerrard should return from a concussion this week giving the Jaguars a very good chance to keep this game close.

The body language, the fact that John Kitna will be in a quarterback and the idea that the Boys have stopped playing for Wade Philips gives me reason to believe that an upset is in the making.

NFL Prediction Week 8: Jacksonville Jaguars +6 ½

Miami (3-3) at Cincinnati (2-4) -1 ½: Total – 44 points:

Carson Palmer was on fire last week but the Dolphins come into Sunday’s game feeling ripped off after a Week 7 loss to Pittsburgh. Miami is a good all around team and should give the Bengals fits. For Miami, this is a crucial game – a loss severely dampens their playoff hopes. I like the motivated and pissed off Dolphins to get it done on the road this week.

NFL Prediction Week 8: Miami Dolphins +1 ½

Carolina (1-5) at St. Louis (3-4) -3: Total – 37 ½ points:

Carolina got its first win last week and this week face a Rams team that could be without Steven Jackson. That said, the Rams are a decent all around team and have been good at home. Carolina has something to build off but this week they will be brought back down to earth. I like the Rams to go 4-4 and keep the division title within their grasp.

NFL Prediction Week 8: St. Louis Rams -3

Denver (2-5) at San Francisco (1-6) pk: Total – 41 ½ points

The Denver Broncos and San Francisco 49ers play on London England this week. After getting totally humiliated by the Raiders last week, the Broncos will be out for redemption. Alex Smith may not play after hurting his elbow last week. Even if he does play, the Niners are a total mess and look like they have given up on their season. Kyle Orton will bounce back in a big way and give the English fans something to cheer about.

NFL Prediction Week 8: Denver Broncos

Green Bay (4-3) at New York Jets (5-1) -6: Total – 42 ½ points:

Hard to believe that the Jets are favored by six points! Sure the Jets are one of the most dominant defenses in the NFL and sure Darrelle Revis has proclaimed himself 100% healthy but these are the Packers that we are talking about! I expect this game to be decided by a field goal or less – six points is a little rich.

NFL Prediction Week 8: Green Bay Packers to cover the 6 point spread.

Tennessee (5-2) at San Diego (2-5) -4: Total – 44 points:

How does a team with the best offense and best defense in the NFL fall to 2-5? Just ask the San Diego Chargers. The Chargers will likely have Antonio Gates at less than 100% again and will be without Malcolm Floyd all together. The Titans have been generating a lot of sacks and could make life miserable for Philip Rivers all day long. In a matchup of a team on a three game winning streak and a team on a three game losing streak, I’ll take the Hot team on the road.

NFL Prediction Week 8: Tennessee Titans +4

Tampa Bay (4-2) at Arizona (3-3) -3: Total – 39 ½ points:

The Arizona Cardinals looked absolutely terrible on the road last week and there is very little faith in Max hall right now. Tampa Bay is finding ways to win games and although they are young and experienced, I like them to keep the momentum going on Sunday.

NFL Prediction Week 8: Tampa Bay Buccaneers +3
