NFL Playoff Prop Betting – Arizona Cardinals vs. New Orleans Saints
January 15, 2010
If betting the over / under, winner / loser, and spread covering does not get the competitive juices flowing this week…BetOnline.com has you covered.
Arizona Cardinals (+7, +240) vs. New Orleans Saints (-7, -290)
The Saints have the most productive offense through the regular season, and I do not see that train slowing when the Cardinals swoop into New Orleans. The Cardinals are not ranked in the top 5 in any defensive category during the regular season, so the chances of them stopping Drew Brees is about as likely as me eating tofu at any point in my life. Which is to say, none at all.
First to Score
You get +135 on the NFL Moneyline of you pick the Cardinals, and -165 if you pick the Saints. Obviously the Saints are going to score first, but every accumulator needs a sure thing to anchor. The question that has to be tied into this is whether or not they will score in the first 5 1/2 minutes? If Brees and the Saints offense gets the ball first then this is a lock. This bet gets interesting if the Cardinals get the ball first.
As we have seen last week, the Cards are no stranger to putting up big numbers quickly, and with no warning. They attack, like a moody house cat. You don’t even really notice it until it is too late. They were ranked 11th this year in offensive production, and they can move the ball. If they get the first set of downs they will eat some clock, and the Saints might not have enough left of the 5 1/2 minutes to get down the field. The Moneyline on this is -115, and I would put that on the Saints. Even if Arizona does get the ball first, the Saints are going to come out firing.
Longest FG in the Game (O/U 43 1/2 yards)
Both of these teams can play when they have the ball. Neither of these teams is going to win any defensive awards this year. The Cardinals were ranked 20th, and the Saints were 25th. The defensive difference that low in the table is negligible. It is like the difference between a ’6′ and a ’7′ at 2am while you are 10 mojitos deep. That is why you are good to bet the under here (Moneyline -115). Any field goal to split the uprights is going to be at the end of an exasperated drive that will find the scoring team well inside the 40.
First Score of the Game (TD -200, Any Other +160)
The Saints have to crush the spirit of the redbirds early. They do not want a repeat of the OK Coral shootout that left Green Bay crying on foam cheese hats. The first score is going to be from the Saints. It is going to be in the first 5 1/2 minutes. It is going to be a touchdown. It is going to be the end of the Cardinal’s season.
