NFL Playoff Betting – Who Are The Picks In The NFC?

January 6, 2011

With the NFL Playoff pairings now announced, you know what that means…time for NFL Betting!

Who are the favorites to take home the NFC crown? Let’s take a look.

Atlanta Falcons (+175): The team with home-field advantage throughout the playoffs, and the team with the best record in the NFC enter the NFL Playoff Betting as the favorites in this conference. And is there any surprise why?

Atlanta went 13-3 this season, but was most importantly is playing its best football down the stretch, winning nine of their last 10 games, and going 8-2 against the spread in that stretch as well.

The Falcons will host the winner Saturday’s Saints-Seahawks game.

New Orleans Saints (+400): Who dat? Dat is the New Orleans Saints, the defending champions, and the next team in the NFL Playoff Betting. Like Atlanta, New Orleans enters the postseason on a roll, having won seven of their last nine games.

And while they did lose last Sunday to Tampa Bay, all one needs to do is look to the week before to see just how talented this Saints team is. In that game, New Orleans went into the Georgia Dome, and shocked the Falcons 17-14, behind 302 yards passing from Drew Brees.

Can they beat Seattle and head to the Georgia Dome for an encore in two weeks? Why not?

Chicago Bears (+450): Is any division winner getting less respect heading into the playoffs than the Chicago Bears? Yes they’re just 11-5 overall, but won the rugged NFC North, and beat the Eagles and Jets over the final weeks of the season.

Watch out for this team’s feared defense, which was arguably the best in the NFC, allowing just 17.9 points per game.

Philadelphia Eagles (+450): Of all the teams in the NFL Playoff Betting, none may be more feared by opposing teams than the Philadelphia Eagles. Despite coming into the postseason having lost two in a row, bettors can’t help but remember their ‘Miracle at the Meadowlands’ where Philadelphia scored 28 fourth quarter points to shock the Giants, in a game that sent New York reeling.

And in the end, it all comes down to Michael Vick and this offense which averages 27 points per game. While Vick gets all the credit (and rightfully so), watch out for running back LeSean McCoy, who rushed for 1,080 yards this season.

Green Bay Packers (+500): The Eagles first round opponent this coming weekend will be the Packers, who survived two tough weeks, needing to beat the Giants and Bears just to get here. They did exactly that and are now three games from the Super Bowl.

It won’t be easy, but if there’s one guy who can lead them to Football Betting wins, its quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Despite suffering a handful of injuries, including a concussion a few weeks ago, Rodgers still had a phenomenal year, throwing for just under 4,000 yards in 2010.

Seattle Seahawks (+4000): And finally, the last team in this postseason are the Seattle Seahawks who squeaked into the playoffs with a victory Sunday night over St. Louis. The Seahawks became the first team in NFL history to make the playoffs with a 7-9 mark.

Will Seattle represent the NFC in the Super Bowl? It doesn’t seem likely.

But when it comes to the NFL Playoff Betting, stranger things have indeed happened.
