NFL Picks Week 14 – Tampa Bay To Squash Washington Redskins

December 11, 2010

It’s almost painfully obvious that the entire Washington Redskins team has given up on the season, which is why they’ve become kryptonite in NFL picks for most of us handicappers. With their only win coming over the tanking Tennessee Titans, the clock on the McNabb era in Washington is ticking louder and louder.

Everyone has the exact opposite feeling about Joshua Freeman and the surging Bucs in NFL picks.

Tampa lost its first game against the betting line when Atlanta barely escaped Raymond James last weekend thanks to a kick return touchdown. The Bucs had gone 3-2 SU in the five games prior, but had also gone an unreal 5-0 ATS. They’ve become a freight train of cash for their betting investors, and you can hardly fault them for a loss to Atlanta, a team many consider to be the best in the league right now.

The Bucs shouldn’t have too much trouble getting back on the horse against a lifeless Redskins team in NFL picks this weekend. Washington is just 1-4 SU and ATS in their past 5 games and their defense has fallen in to the toilet at home.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (7-5) vs. Washington Redskins (5-7)

Sunday, December 12th — FedEx Field — 1:00pm EST

NFL Betting Line: Tampa Bay -2.0 (41.0)

Washington is perhaps the worst overall home defense, allowing 448.8 total yards against when playing at FedEx Field. They’re also the worst team when rushing the football in their own building, picking up an average of 67.5 yards per game at home. You can blame injuries and personnel all you want but the facts are the facts.

You also can’t undersell just how unmotivated the Redskins are playing right now, and while the Buccaneers don’t have their playoff destiny in their hands anymore they are not out of the race. Play the OVER because Tampa’s pass defense isn’t stellar and McNabb can still throw the ball well. Tampa is also developing a nasty habit of letting teams sneak on the scoreboard.

Tampa has surprisingly, and refreshingly, good this season. It has taken a while, but the betting community is finally wising up that this is a darn good football team and two close losses to Atlanta and Baltimore have given them the respect they deserve. Raheem Morris is giving you zero reason to abandon their cause in NFL picks so buckle up and enjoy the ride.
