December 2, 2010
One week after the National Football League served up a feast of Thanksgiving weekend games, the sports betting world looks to a new trend for NFL picks week 13, namely a handful of home favorites that have the potential to do much more than just cover the spread.
While the Chicago Bears appear to be the closest thing to a lock for a road team this week, there are three home teams that have the potential to crush their spreads:

Cleveland Browns @ Miami Dolphins
One week after bouncing back from a shutout loss to the Chicago Bears with a big win at Oakland, the Miami Dolphins welcome the Cleveland Browns to Sun Life Stadium.
The Browns are coming off a close 24-23 win over the Carolina Panthers, and have clinched victories in three of their last four, but will have a tough time against a Dolphins’ team that still believes in their postseason chances.
Miami is 6-5, three games back of the division lead in the AFC East, but with games remaining against the Browns, Buffalo Bills, and Detroit Lions, there may still be a chance at a Wild Card spot.
NFL Picks Week 13: Dolphins -4.5
Denver Broncos @ Kansas City Chiefs
The Broncos took full advantage of the Chiefs the first time that these teams met, scoring 49 points en route to a 49-29 victory.
Kansas City head coach Todd Haley refused to shake hands with Denver head coach Josh McDaniels after the game, and you can be sure that beatdown is still fresh in the memories of the Chiefs organization.
Factor in the controversy surrounding the Broncos’ organizational activities of late, and this game has all the makings of a blowout.
NFL Picks Week 13: Chiefs -9
Chicago Bears @ Detroit Lions
The Bears made a statement with a 31-26 win over the Eagles last weekend, their points total a new season-high.
With sole possession of first place in the NFC North following Green Bay’s loss to Atlanta, Chicago has the chance to move one step closer to a division title against the team currently residing in last place.
The Lions have lost four straight, including a 45-24 beatdown at the hands of the New England Patriots on Thanksgiving Thursday, and will be ripe for the picking.
NFL Picks Week 13: Bears -3.5
Oakland Raiders @ San Diego Chargers
Say what you want about Chargers’ head coach Norv Turner and his team’s slow starts, because these guys flat out get the job done when it matter most. San Diego is undefeated in November and December games the past three years, and will extend that streak with a crucial divisional contest at home this Sunday.
The Chargers are one game back of the Chiefs for first place in the AFC West, and should not have a problem taking down a Raiders’ team that is coming off of consecutive losses to the Pittsburgh Steelers and Miami Dolphins.
NFL Picks Week 13: Chargers -12.5
