NFL Picks Week 12 – Frazier Makes Coaching Debut For Vikings, Steelers Battle Bills

November 25, 2010

If you’re making your NFL picks week 12, there a feast of games this Thanksgiving Thursday that will feature five of six teams that participated in last year’s postseason. But when Sunday morning comes around there will be four games in particular that attract the majority of the focus, including a highly touted coaching prospect making his debut as the top dog in the nation’s capital, and an AFC contender testing its merit on the road against an upstart underdog that knocked off a division rival last Sunday.

Pittsburgh Steelers @ Buffalo Bills

After opening the season with eight straight wins, the Bills can make it three wins in a row if they can find a way to knock off the AFC North-division leading Steelers this Sunday. Pittsburgh bounced back from a loss to the New England Patriots the previous week by blowing away the Oakland Raiders 35-3, and will be looking for some consistency by clinching consecutive wins for the first times since mid-October. While Buffalo could not be considered a legitimate threat after taking down the lowly Detroit Lions at home, last weekend’s 49-31 comeback win over the Cincinnati Bengals holds merit, and a couple of overtime losses on the road to division leaders in Baltimore and Kansas City have to be relevant. The Steelers will have to pay attention to detail, or they very well could be caught looking to the following week’s key showdown with the Ravens.

NFL Picks Week 12: Steelers -6.5

Jacksonville Jaguars @ New York Giants

It’s not the Houston Texans or Tennessee Titans that are tied with the Indianapolis Colts for top spot in the AFC South, it’s the Jaguars. Jacksonville has won three straight games but will have a tough task extending that undefeated run against a talented Giants’ team that will be coming off consecutive losses to division rivals. New York has a couple of opportunities to make up for those defeats with home dates against the Jaguars and Washington Redskins, and with run and pass units on both offense and defense that are ranked in the top-ten, the time is now.

NFL Picks Week 12: Giants – 7

Minnesota Vikings @ Washington Redskins

After years of hanging on with the Vikings as the team’s defensive coordinator, Leslie Frazier finally gets his shot as the team’s head coach. Minnesota owner Zygi Wilf fired Brad Childress after last Sunday’s embarrassing 31-3 home loss to the Green Bay Packers, leaving it to Frazier to find a way to turn around a 2-7 team that was once considered to be a legitimate Super Bowl threat. It won’t be easy on the road against a Redskins’ team that will be fresh off a 19-16 road win at Tennessee, but Frazier has the support of the entire organization, including most importantly the players.

NFL Picks Week 12: Vikings + 2.5

Kansas City Chiefs @ Seattle Seahawks

The Chiefs rebounded from consecutive road losses to division rivals with a 31-13 blowout win over the Arizona Cardinals last week, but will be in tough to string together consecutive victories against a Seattle team will try to bounce back from its first home loss of the season.

NFL Picks Week 12: Seahawks + 1
