NFL Picks – Week 10 – Change is Theme for Cowboys, Dolphins, Titans
November 12, 2010
In our NFL Betting picks for Week 10 we have to consider that some teams are undergoing change as they line up for Sunday action; these teams include the Dallas Cowboys, who now have Jason Garrett to guide their fortunes; the Miami Dolphins, who have turned to Chad Pennington as their starting quarterback, and the Tennessee Titans, who have taken on the burden of Pennington’s former target at Marshall, Randy Moss.
Will it be the same old Kansas City Chiefs this week, coming off a very disappointing defeat and traveling to Denver? And will the Houston Texans’ tendency toward the middle of the pack ever change? We take a look at all of that with our NFL picks for Week 10.
Former NFL stars Dante Hall and Kenyon Rasheed discuss the Dallas Dilemma:

DALLAS COWBOYS at NEW YORK GIANTS
Odds for NFL Picks – Week 10
N.Y. Giants -13.5
Dallas +13.5
Total 46
There’s a big unknown here, and that is how the Cowboys will come out and play under Jason Garrett for the first time. yeah,. Jerry Jones has made it clear that heads will roll, and he proved it by giving the axe to Wade Phillips. But there’s also a big "known" as well – let’s not forget that as the Cowboys have been in the process of "quitting" they were doing it for Garrett too, not to mention "new" defensive coordinator Paul Pasqualoni. After all these years, I don’t know is there is anything new and different this particular head coach is going to get out of Jon Kitna, who will be prone to sacks and interceptions. Yes, Tony Romo got hurt in the first meeting with the Giants, but that is not where the Dallas slide began. The Giants, who have scored 144 points the last four weeks, have everything it takes to exploit the shoddy defense that has come to be associated with this Cowboy team. As Roy Williams said after the 45-7 defeat at the hands of Green Bay: "We are a 1-7 ballclub. That is who we are."

HOUSTON TEXANS at JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS
Odds for NFL Picks Week 10:
Jacksonville -1.5
Houston +1.5
Total 49.5
When last seen (i.e., before the bye week), David Garrard was throwing four touchdown passes against the Dallas Cowboys. Over his last four games Garrard has completed 76% of his passes with nine TD’s. That’s not necessarily great news for a Houston secondary that really doesn’t have its act together. If a quarterback had 20 TD’s and just five interceptions that would be the kind of ratio that would likely get him into the Pro Bowl. Well, that’s what Houston has done for the opposition so far. That, with just twelve sacks and over eight yards allowed per reception. True, the Jags don’t have the most threatening group of wideouts. But second team pass-catchers from Indianapolis and San Diego have burned them the last two weeks. Can you believe Jacksonville still has a chance for the division title?
NFL PICK – WEEK 10: JACKSONVILLE -1.5

TENNESSEE TITANS at MIAMI DOLPHINS
Odds for NFL Picks – Week 10:
Tennessee -2
Miami +2
Total 43
There’s a new "hanging Chad" in south Florida. I was saying at the beginning of the season that while Chad Henne might be the "quarterback of the future" (an oft-beaten cliche) for the Dolphins, in the present day Chad Pennington was the guy who "gave the team the best chance to win" (another oft-beaten cliche). Now coach Tony Sporano has finally understood that, so you can expect that cheap opportunities for Tennessee will be at a premium with the accurate Pennington at the controls. Remember, the last full season Pennington played (2008), he was the runner-up in the MVP voting. Why wouldn’t he have been given the chance to get his back? That having been said, the fundamentally-sound Titans, who rush the passer with abandon (26 sacks), have the most dangerous man on the field in Chris Johnson (721 yards) and probably have a better plan for Randy Moss than the beleaguered Brad Childress did, are not the ideal opponent here. It’s kind of ironic, don’t you think, that Miami passes up Moss on waivers one week and inserts Pennington the next? Do you think Pennington wishes he had his old college teammate on hand as both of them re-introduce themselves?
NFL PICK – WEEK 10: TENNESSEE -2

KANSAS CITY CHIEFS at DENVER BRONCOS
Odds for NFL Picks – Week 10:
Kansas City -1
Denver +1
Total 43.5
It appears that the Broncos’ routine, which included a rather late trip to London following the 59-14 demolition at the hands of Oakland, wasn’t the most judicious thing in the world to do. is Josh McRoberts’ future hanging in the balance in the coming weeks? I’m not sure you could blame what’s happened on the departure of Jay Cutler, or even Brandon Marshall, but possibly defensive coordinator Mike Nolan, who at least had patched a stop unit together.
After Week 9, though, I’m asking myself "just how phony are the Chiefs as contenders go?" When you aspire to win a division title, you’ve got to do a lot better than Kansas City did with its shameful endgame performance against Oakland, when they literally blew a victory that was well within their grasp. The Chiefs run very well, and the Broncos pass rather well. Kansas City defends a little better, but we won’t be looking for a defensive battle here.
