Jacksonville Opens With Lots of Questions Against Miami
The Jaguars enter the season with too many questions. Is Torry Holt still “the man”? Can David Garrard even get him the damn ball? Will Mo-Jo be able to carry the load all by himself? Is the offensive line going to stay healthy?
Miami’s questions are relatively simple. All they’re going to need is a big year from Ted Ginn Jr., who enters his second year after just 790 yards and two receiving touchdowns. All Chad needs to do is get Ginn the ball and let him do the rest.
Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Miami Dolphins
Monday, August 17th — LandShark Stadium, Miami — 7:30pm EST
NFL Betting Line: Miami -3 (32.5)
I can’t see Miami playing Chad Pennington too long, so I’d stay in the UNDER, especially as we figure out if Jacksonville is going to figure out if they can mass an aerial attack at all.
Furious Free Pick: Miami -3 (UNDER)

Eli Manning Gets To Test His Receivers Against Carolina
The Giants have left the Plaxico Burress-Amani Toomer years behind them. Now they move forward with Eli Manning still at quarterback, with a massive contract in his back pocket and a slew of receivers led by…wait a second…who the hell are these guys?
Steve Smith, Domenik Hixon, Mario Manningham, Sinorice Moss and David Tyree will all be competing for playing time tonight and all five of those guys are capable receivers. That means we’re going to see a lot of air-time today from the Giants while the Panthers won’t risk their vaunted secondary for more than a quarter.
Carolina Panthers vs. New York Giants
Monday, August 17th — Giants Stadium, New York — 8:15pm EST
NFL Betting Line: NYG -3 (34)
Carolina won’t play with Steve Smith’s health, so the Panthers will be without their only scoring threat through the air. That also means an increased workload for the rushing game of Carolina, which is led by DeAngelo Williams. Ground game grinding means low, low point totals.
The problem for this game is that the Panthers nor Giants won’t jeopardize too much by keeping Delhomme or Manning on the field. So we’re in for a treat as David Carr tries to prove to Carolina that they shouldn’t have cut him two seasons ago! It’s McCown! It’s Carr! It’s Monday Night Football…pre-season styles!
Furious Free Pick: NYG -3 (UNDER)
