NFL Picks – Can Colts Rally To Beat Cowboys?
December 5, 2010
It’s hard to remember when the Indianapolis Colts have looked this dreary in football betting picks. While some handicappers may be hitting the panic button on this team, I still can’t really fault any team for losing games to the Patriots and Chargers. If Indianapolis loses to the Cowboys this coming weekend, then I’ll be very worried about them.
Injuries have been the big story for the Colts. Joseph Addai is out with a neck injury and could very well play this weekend. Should he suit up against Dallas, that immediately makes Indianapolis more dynamic on offense. Peyton Manning is playing with a depleted offensive roster, and the defense is still missing Bob Sanders, Gary Brackett and Clint Sessions.
You can’t replace guys like that, and frankly none of the players I just listed are guaranteed to play.

Now the question for the sports betting community is if we just hold off on Indianapolis in NFL picks until further notice. Let’s nor forget that despite two devastating losses, they’re still 3-2 ATS in their past 5 games which isn’t terrible all things considered. The Colts are also 19-3 SU in their past 22 games at home.
More so, this NFL pick depends on your ability to fully trust the surging Dallas Cowboys. Feel like going against Peyton Manning with Jon Kitna protecting your money?
Dallas Cowboys (3-8) vs. Indianapolis Colts (6-5)
Sunday, December 5th — Lucas Oil Stadium — 4:15pm EST
NFL Betting Line: Indianapolis -5.5 (47.5)
The Cowboys are coming off an extended rest since losing to the New Orleans Saints 27-30. It was their first loss under new head coach Jason Garrett, but they still managed to cover. Dallas is now 3-0 ATS in their past three games with Garrett wearing the big boy headset.
Unfortunately they’re also 1-3 SU and ATS when playing Indianapolis historically, which doesn’t happen that often. In fact the last time these two teams played was in 2006. The reason I bring this up is relevant to how you select your NFL picks.
There are perhaps no two teams in the entire league that know Peyton Manning as well as the San Diego Chargers and New England Patriots. They hate the guy, but they study him and thrive on trying to beat him. You simply can’t say that Dallas has that same level of familiarity with Peyton. They don’t play him enough.
That’s why I’m sticking with the Colts getting what I consider to be a generous line at home. Indianapolis can still be one of the most prolific and unstoppable offenses in the league, and Peyton can have a bad game. That happens on occasion. Indy still ranks 5th in the league in terms of offense, averaging 25.6 points per game.
I just don’t trust Dallas right now. While they’ve been good at home in this last pair of games, I think they get a rude awakening when Peyton unleashes hell and covers this game by at least a touchdown. Dallas is perhaps the largest overachiever I have ranked over the past three weeks so be smart with your NFL picks and stick with Peyton Manning.
