NFL Odds to Win the Super Bowl – Picks, Ponders and Pity

September 4, 2011

The NFL lockout, holdout and wear my ass out with these negotiations finally got resolved as I thought, and DAMN,  some teams made tornados  look like dust devils with the moving and shaking they did.

The Philadelphia Eagles have obviously been the talk of this last 2 week mish-mash of headspinning, but some of this may be over-hyped. That “Dream Team” label is just going to bite them in the ass and actually take some pressure off the defending Super Bowl Champion Packers.

By the way, the signing of Numero UNO free agent Nnamdi Asomugha isn’t over anything. That stud is the real deal, and it’s a good thing Rex Ryan and the Jets didn’t score that to have Revis Island and Asomugha Everywhere.

Questions still loom about the Eagles defense even with that huge addition. Andy Reid is so loyal he is switching an offensive coach to defense, but will that work.

NFL Odds to Win the Super Bowl with pre CBA Odds after comma:

New England Patriots (+550, +700) – Belichick does it again. He really doesn’t have much downside (though upside isn’t much IMHO either) by giving up 5th round pick for Albert Haynesworthless, and I believe he will get a monster year out of Ocho Stinko with Brady firing missiles.

Green Bay Packers (+650, +700) – The Pack is Back or the Pack is Wack? Green Bay is dealing with the year after syndrome, and even with a healthy Ryan Grant at running back this year I wouldn’t bet them unless they were +1000.

Super Bowl Champs have a lot to do like going to the White House on August 12th on a shortened training camp year. They’re also OLD at some top positions with Driver 36, OLT Clifton 35, LCB Charles Woodson 35 (10/7), and DLE Ryan Pickett 32 years October 8th.

Philadelphia Eagles (+700, +1500) – There is no doubt this team is going to have what will probably be the top offense in the NFL this year. They were 3rd in scoring offense and 2nd in total offense last year and added physical RB Ronnie Brown who beats down defenses and QB Vince Young to backup superstar and now dog lover Michael Vick. Defenses will never get a break with those 2 scrambling freaks behind center. These odds went way too low with a lot of team gelling and cuddling left to get down.

San Diego Chargers (+1000, +1000) – The only big issue Chargers have is if Antonio Gates injury keeps flaring up. I think without Antonio the Gates to the Super Bowl are closed for this team.

Pittsburgh Steelers (+1200, +1200) – Big Ben is healthy, and no one can deny having that bulldozer healthy for a full year spells doom for other defenses. Now if Steelers’ President Art Rooney has a steel reinforced muzzle for James Harrison, maybe Roger “devil, puppet, crook, dictator…” won’t find a way to permanently send Jackass James to early retirement.

Atlanta Falcons (+1400, +1400) – Matt Ryan and Roddy White are definitely going to eat again this year, but if Jerious Norwood stays healthy they’re going to chow!!

New Orleans Saints (+1400, +1600) – Brees has almost his entire wrecking crew signed to keep that impenetrable wall up for him to make a sandwich while he finds a receiver open. Mark Ingram is looking great early, so I believe the Saints are BACK this year peeps.

New York Jets (+1500, +1400) – Let the Rex Ryan Roarfest commence. I LOVE IT! He’s asking other teams to beat the Patriots – F-ING HILARIOUS. If they would’ve signed Nnamdi, CHAMPIONSHIP!

Baltimore Ravens (+1500, +1400) – Flacco is sicko of slackos talking smacko about his skill-o! Look for Boldin to have a HUGE year now that the team is gathering NO MOSS!

Dallas Cowboys (+1500, +1400) – What are these idiots thinking? They must think Dez Bryant is going to have 150 receptions, 2000 yards and 35 touchdowns this season. It ain’t coming close with Tony Romo.

Indianapolis Colts (+1600, +1800) – Peyton Manning is still recovering from his neck surgery, and I don’t see anything major to improve their team from free agency as their line went down. Manning will have a healthy first string crew to start which is way different than last year, and that is good enough.

New York Giants (+2000, +2000) – They still have the same personnel which is a good thing. As long as Osi Umenyioras doesn’t cry because he couldn’t get a team to give up a number 1 pick for him. Look for Prince Amukamara to make a colossal contribution towards the Giants NFL Playoffs push. This is a great line at +2000. DO IT!
Okay, I’m done talking about the Eagles.
