Kansas City Chiefs +4

The only thing that Kansas City really has going for them leading into this matchup is their running game led by 2nd year running back Jamaal Charles.
This offseason, the Chiefs showed Charles they have complete faith in him by releasing second-string running back Larry Johnson, giving Charles feature back duties for the 2010-11 NFL season.

Charles earned his team’s respect last NFL odds season by rushing for an average of over 110 yards in the final 9 games of last season.
He almost single-handedly won the Chiefs final game in Week 17 against Denver, rushing for 259 yards and two touchdowns – not to mention, he was running behind a dreadful offensive line who gave up 42 sacks a year ago.
Kansas City’s pass offense, however, lays no comparison to its running game.
The Chiefs were 25th in passing yards and 21st in pass touchdowns last year. 28-year-old quarterback Matt Cassel threw 5.93 yards/attempt (30th in the league)
The Chargers, on the other hand, are full with young talent that should easily exploit a weak Kansas City defense.
All-Pro quarterback Philip Rivers was red-hot last season, throwing for 4,254 yards, 28 touchdowns and 9 interceptions with a passer rating of 104.4 (3rd in the NFL behind Drew Brees and Brett Favre).
He should have no problem picking apart a Chiefs pass defense that allowed an average of 232 receiving yards a year ago (22nd in the NFL).
Furthermore, stud rookie running back Ryan Matthews will tromp over Kansas City’s defense in his NFL debut, as the Chief’s defense was 31st in the league against the run last year (giving up more than 2,500 yards during the season).
Marshall Mention: San Diego has won their previous five matchups versus the Chiefs, dating back to December 2007.
NFL Odds Online: Bet on the Chargers (-4.5).
