NFL Odds Makers – Baltimore Minus Three is Not BEST Play at KC
January 8, 2011
This NFL Wild Card game is one of the typical cases where the NFL Odds have the visiting team, Baltimore, favored. The NFL Pointspread should even be higher than 3 if you’re asking.
In some of these NFL games, you must pick what seems to be the BETTER NFL Betting choice. I believe there is another choice here even more solid than Baltimore -3 at Arrowhead Stadium.

Baltimore Ravens (12-4) at Kansas City Chiefs (10-6) – Sunday, January 9 at 1:00 ET CBS-TV
Arrowhead Stadium (81,425) – Kansas City, Missouri
NFL Odds:
Baltimore Ravens (8-7-1 ATS) -3 -115 (ML -170)
Kansas City Chiefs (9-7 ATS) +3 -105 (ML +150)
Over/Under Total – 40 ½
Kansas City is coming off an incredible turn around led by Head Coach Todd Haley. They were last in the AFC West Division last year going 4-12. They upgraded to winners of the AFC West this year at 10-6.
Haley did have some help doing this. He had some great help from his defensive coordinator Romeo Crennel and offensive coordinator Charlie Weis (name sounds familiar hmmm) from Notre Dame Notoriety.
The Chiefs got schooled by the Raiders and the NFL Odds last week. They mainly struggled against the run. That is going to cause some big problems with the Ravens running a very similar running plan. Ray Rice will probably have a good day.
This in turn will set up Joe Flacco who is not having a good year and looks like he lacks confidence. Joe needs the help, but against Kansas City the Ravens defense will probably be enough to win.
Ray Lewis is a hall-of-fame NFL player that doesn’t get mentioned enough in these articles I try to write and convey my knowledge to you. Lewis had 139 total tackles this year finishing fifth in the NFL. This is his most since 2004.
NFL Odds are based on how a team’s offense will fare. Kansas City’s rushing offense is number 1 in the league which you may already know, but their passing game sucks like a baby on a bottle.
Baltimore will not feed them in the secondary, and I expect them to put the kibosh on the passing game including Dwayne Bowe. Matt Cassel has been talking with Tom Brady for support, but unless it’s about a jockstrap, it’s not going to help against Ed Reed (NFL leader in INTs w/10 in 10 games).
Baltimore does have some issues this year. The run game they developed into the NFL’s fifth best last year is an average 14th ranked this year.
They will be pressing this up this week not only for KC but to give the Patriots something more to prepare for in next week’s game (if Ravens win..wink..wink).
As much as I’m sure the Ravens will school the Chiefs in this game, I don’t like giving up the 3 points in a low scoring affair in Kansas City as much as another bet.
The NFL Odds and Lines on this game have a more solid play IMHO.
NFL Odds or Lines Play – Bet Ravens/Chiefs UNDER 40 ½ Total Points
