NFL Odds: Good Value in NFL Futures – NFL Regular Season MVP

August 6, 2010

The NFL odds heavily favor Quarterbacks for the 2010 MVP award.

Quarterbacks have won the last three awards with Peyton Manning winning the last two.

Running backs appear to be getting no love by the NFL oddmakers and wide receivers (who have never won the MVP award) aren’t even on the radar.

There is definitely some good value in the MVP race, so pay attention!

NFL Odds in descending order:

Peyton Manning +550 – We all get it! Peyton is a true stud and has been worth of the award in the last two seasons. It’s time for a change.

He will get his 4000 yards and 30 touchdowns but somebody is going to outshine him this season. Only Brett Favre has won the award three times in a row, so the NFL Odds are stacked against him.

Drew Brees +700 – Brees is simply the best leader in the game. He cares and makes the guys around him care too. He’s got an amazing team, great weapons and a surprisingly easy schedule this season.

Brees is certainly overdue isn’t he?

Tom Brady +800: Brady is going to have to be magic this season or the Patriots will be awful. Brady is playing for a contract next year. I still see him as a top 5 player in the league, but MVP, look somewhere else.

Philip Rivers +900 – Rivers has an easy schedule and directs a high powered offense as well. He’s probably the fifth best quarterback in the NFL, so MVP seems like a stretch. Holdouts will hurt as well.

Chris Johnson +1000: Here`s where the real value begins! Chris Johnson had the second best season that a running back has ever had last year and he got NO first place MVP votes.

If Johnson has a season like he did last, there are going to be some voters who will be swayed Johnson`s way because of his monster numbers last year. Johnson is an immense talent and is surely worth a look at +1000.

Aaron Rodgers +1200 – Rodgers is also good value. Many feel that Rodgers is NFL odds-on-favourite to take home the prize. He has averaged 4000 yards and 28 touchdowns and has added nine scores on the ground in the last two years, all behind a leaky offensive lines.

The Packers have shored up their line and have the same weapons in place as last year. Add in the fact that Green Bay could easily be 12-4 or 13-3 and Rodgers will be high profile come January.

Tony Romo +1200: Romo is playing on a great team with huge expectations. Like Rivers, he`s not the best at his position so he`s hard to support for MVP.

Adrian Peterson +1800: Favre is the X-factor. If you think that Favre will be back, sprinkle a bit on Peterson, he`s always at the forefront of the MVP talk. If he takes a baby step forward this season, he`ll be dominant.

Word has come down that Favre is indeed retiring – believe it? Peterson could be in line for more work if this is indeed true.

I like Aaron Rodgers +1200 this season. It`s “changing of the guard“ time for the NFL. Chris Johnson and Adrian Peterson are also great value.

There`s certainly no shame in NFL Betting on one of the 5 on terms of odds but take a look at the underdogs, there are some intriguing options out there.
