NFL Odds Fave San Diego Ready to Beat Up the Seattle Seahawks
September 26, 2010
The San Diego Chargers, now that everything is right in their world, are decent NFL odds online favorites to take down the Seattle Seahawks this Sunday.
San Diego is -5 ½ in the sportsbook to beat the improved but still a long way to go Seahawks. After being upset by Kansas City as 4 ½ point faves in Week 1 21 to 14, the Bolts bounced back with a sterling 38 to 13 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 2.
Now, they shouldn’t have a tough time spanking another mediocre NFL team, right?

According to the NFL odds prediction trends, both teams have a shot at covering the spread in this game.
- The San Diego Chargers are 5 and 2 ATS in their last 7 games on the road.
- The San Diego Chargers are 1 and 6 ATS in their last 7 games after allowing less than 15 points in their previous game.
- The Seattle Seahawks are 4 and 1 ATS in their last 5 games at home.
- The Seattle Seahawks are 1 and 8 ATS in their last 9 games after allowing more than 350 total yards in their previous game.
The NFL odds on this game aren’t exactly where I thought they would be. I knew that San Diego would be favored but I didn’t believe that they’d be favored by more than 4 ½ points, like they were on the road against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Yes, the Denver Broncos dominated Seattle in Week 2, 31 to 16, but Seattle might actually matchup better against San Diego than they did against Denver. First, the Seahawks defense had serious issues against Denver QB Kyle Orton and the Broncos’ passing game because they couldn’t handle Broncos’ rookie WR Demaryius Thomas who runs something crazy like a 4.3 and is 6’ 3” and weighs 230 lbs.
San Diego doesn’t have a player like that in their receiving corp. Second, Seattle QB Matt Hasselbeck threw 3 picks against Denver’s D. Hasselbeck won’t do that again. Finally, Seattle had to play Denver in Colorado. This week, the Seahawks get to take on the Chargers in Seattle.
Qwest Field is going to be rocking and rolling this Sunday. San Diego is definitely the overall better team but they aren’t 5 ½ points better like the NFL odds handicapping line asserts.
The Bolts should find the going a bit tougher on the road against a good QB like Matt Hasselbeck than they did at home versus an overrated Jacksonville team. I’m not saying that San Diego isn’t going to win this game. I’m just saying that the NFL odds are sort of out of whack.
Football handicappers should remember that Seattle destroyed San Francisco on the road in Week 1, 31 to 6. There’s some quality to the Seahawks. I expect them to play well at home against the Bolts on Sunday.
I’m going to back the Seattle Seahawks at the NFL expert odds in the sportsbook. They’re the play to cover the spread.
