November 28, 2010
Check the NFL odds for Week 12 of the season, you will see an unlikely 10-point favorite. The Cleveland Browns are favored by two scores over the visiting Carolina Panthers.
Sunday, Nov 28 @ 1pm EST on CBS
NFL Odds: Carolina Panthers (+10) at Cleveland Browns (-10)
Total: 37.5
In this matchup we’ve got a team that is playing above expectations and one that’s falling far below them. The Browns have played tough football, playing in tight games almost every week, while the Panthers have been victim to losses in all buy one game this season. Their lone win came against San Francisco.

The Carolina Panthers have a ton of questions marks at RB. With last season’s 1000+ yard rushers DeAngello Williams (IR) and Jonathan Stewart (limited), they’ve got with Mike Goodson – Carolina’s only 100+ yard RB this season.
The Panthers are also extremely limited at QB. After cutting Jake Delhomme, and losing Jimmy Clausen and Matt Moore to injury have been stuck with Brian St. Pierre under center.
Cleveland, on the other hand, has Peyton Hillis running at an extremely high level. Hillis has 774 yards on the ground, 351 through the air, and 10 total touchdowns. With the improving play of rookie QB Colt McCoy, the Browns are one of the most dangerous 3-win teams in the league.
The Browns are allowing 20.6 points/game this season and the Panthers a much higher 25.2. One glaring stat shows the Panthers only scoring an average of 11.7 points/game on the year. That includes 4 single-digit scoring performances, and one with 10 points.
The Panthers don’t have a quarterback that has thrown more TDs than interceptions on the year – and the Browns have 14 picks on the year. This will not end well for the Panthers on the scoreboard or on the NFL odds board.
As we saw last week against the Ravens, a 2-score spread is easily covered against Carolina.
NFL Free Pick: While it might seem like too many points, take the Browns at -10. Their opportunistic defense and steady ground game will be too much for the hapless Panthers.
