The Raiders went 5-11 SU to finish in third place in the AFC West in 2009 but managed to cover the NFL game Odds in half of their contests while playing Under the O/U total nine times.
The Titans went 8-8 last season and weren’t a good wager (unless you bet against them) against the NFL Odds as they went just 6-10 ATS and 9-7 O/U last season.

Here is a look at the key head-to-head trends surrounding this contest.
- Raiders are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 meetings.
- Favorite is 5-1 ATS in their last 6 meetings.
Oakland Raiders 411
- Raiders are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 vs. AFC.
- Raiders are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games in Week 1.
The Raiders recorded a fine 3-1 SU mark in the preseason while going 2-1-1 against the NFL odds predictions.
Oakland played Over its set O/U totals in each of its final three preseason games after playing Under the NFL Total betting line in its preseason opener.
Starting center Jason Campbell is listed as probable for this matchup after the veteran starter injured his throwing shoulder in the preseason. Running back Michael Bush is listed as questionable for the game with a thumb injury.
Oakland scored at least 24 points in three of its four tune-up games while holding the opposition to the same total or less in an identical three games.

Tennessee Titans 411
- Titans are 9-2 ATS in their last 11 games in September.
- Titans are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games in Week 1.
- Titans are 3-8 ATS in their last 11 vs. AFC.
- Titans are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games overall.
The Titans went 2-2 SU and ATS against their NFL Odds this preseason while alternating wins and losses each time out. Tennessee also split it O/U outcomes evenly going 2-2 against the NFL Odds Total.
The Titans will try to build on their fine 8-2 SU finish under athletic quarterback Vince Young to close out the regular season in 2009 after getting off to a dismal 0-6 start under veteran signal caller Kerry Collins.
Tennessee averaged 19.0 points per game in the preseason while allowing 20.7 points per game defensively.
The Titans have defensive linemen William Hayes and Tony Brown both listed as probable for Sunday’s contest with offensive lineman Mike Otto listed as questionable.
Analysis: While I like the Tennessee Titans to win this contest and get their 2010 regular season started off on the right foot, I’ve got a strong feeling that the Oakland Raiders are going to find a way to scare the heck out of the Titans while covering the NFL Odds handicapping line as a 6-point road underdog – and Oakland’s impressive 5-1 ATS mark in their last six games against the Titans seems to suggest so as well.
I know the Titans have recorded a fine ATS mark in the month of September (9-2 ATS) while also going 6-1 ATS in their last eight regular season openers, but so has Oakland and I really like the Raiders’ defense heading into the regular season.
In addition to playing Oakland to cover the NFL Odds in this one, I also want to encourage NFL betting enthusiasts to play the Over in this matchup as it has gone 5-1 in Oakland’s last six Week 1 games and 4-1 in Tennessee’s last five September games.
NFL Odds Pick: Oakland Raiders +6 Points/Over 40½ Total Points
