San Francisco’s ATS record matches their SU record, giving them 3 wins in their past 4 games. That stretch has come against sub-par competition, with wins against Denver, St. Louis and Arizona (last Monday night). The loss in that stretch was a 21-0 beatdown at the hands of the Buccaneers.

The 49ers 4 wins are a result of a weak division – they haven’t been able to get it done against winning competition.

One of San Francisco’s strengths on the year comes in their run defense. Allowing a little under 100 yards/game, the 49ers are 8th in the league. However, the Packers often abandon the run, favoring empty back sets. Green Bay averages 98 yards/game on the ground, but is 7th in passing. There have been 4 games this season where Aaron Rodgers led the team in rushing yards.

The Packers are coming off a tough loss in Atlanta and need to make a statement at home. This is a big spread, but this passing attack and stifling pass defense is cut out for the job.

Green Bay is averaging 24.5 points/game for and a mere 15.1 points/game against. This low points number has left them at 3-8 on the Over-Under totals on the season. San Francisco has only put up 17.0 points/game on the year – allowing 20.5.

The 49ers have a brutal 1-4 record away from home, and they will be playing an early game on Eastern Standard Time. As a West Coast team, this will be an added challenge for an out-matched team.

Making the case for San Fran even worse is the injury to Frank Gore sustained in Monday Night’s win over the Cardinals. While it’s not clear if Gore is out for the season, he’s definitely out for this game.

Free Pick: Take the Packers as heavy home favorites in this contest. The 49ers won’t hang around much after kick off as Aaron Rodgers and the Packers run up the score at home. If Green Bay wants to be viewed as a contender this year, this is the type of game they need to dominate.
