NFL Odds – Packers Aim For Franchise Record 11th Straight Win Over Lions
December 12, 2010
The Green Bay Packers can move one step closer to clinching a spot in this year’s postseason with a win over the Detroit Lions on Sunday.
The Packers have won ten straight against their NFC North division rival and will be looking to get back on track following two weeks after a road loss to the Atlanta Falcons dropped their record away from home to 3-3. They are favored on the NFL betting odds to win this contest rather handily.

Green Bay Packers @ Detroit Lions
Sunday December 12, 2010 – 1:00 PM ET
Ford Field, Detroit, Michigan
Broadcast: FOX
NFL Odds: Green Bay -6.5
Total: 46
This game will mark the first of back-to-back games that the Packers will play on the road, with a tough trip to Foxborough to face the surging New England Patriots two weeks away. This week however the focus will be on the Lions, who after showing signs of promise have now lost five straight and 10 of 12 overall.
NFL Odds: What The Packers Will Have To Do To Win
The Packers barely escaped with a win the first time these teams met this season, escaping with a 28-26 win at Lambeau Field against a team that hasn’t won on the road in over two years now. Cornerback Charles Woodson’s interception score was the difference in that game, and will need to step up again to ensure those two points that Green Bay won by the first game don’t go to Detroit in this one. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers and the offense have hit their stride, with the veteran quarterback throwing for 3,243 yards and 23 touchdowns, and he will get the chance to add to that totals against a defense that ranks in the bottom third of the league.
NFL Odds: What The Lions Will Have To Do To Win
The Lions will need to find an answer to the question of how to slow Rodgers more than anything, and getting pressure from the defensive line will play a big part. The Lions have lost an NFL-worst 19 straight games within the division, and despite showing signs this season have been unable to put the pieces together on offense. Running back Jahvid Best is a playmaker, and will need to have a big day in order to open things up for wide receiver Calvin Johnson and the passing game.
NFL Odds: Outlook & Pick
Six of the Lions’ 10 losses this season have come by four points or fewer, and although it wouldn’t be a major surprise if Detroit is able to keep this one close, it’s still highly unlikely. The Packers are one game back of the Chicago Bears for first place in the NFC North, and with a showdown against the Patriots looming next week, there is little room for error for a team that wants to clinch home field advantage and a potential first round bye in this year’s postseason.
NFL Odds Pick: Packers -6.5
