NFL Odds – Giants Aim For Fifth Straight Win Versus Redskins

December 4, 2010

NFL betting odds makers know that the New York Giants will look to string together consecutive home wins while aiming for their fifth straight victory against their NFC East division rivals when they welcome the Washington Redskins to town this Sunday.

The Giants are locked in a tie with the Philadelphia Eagles for the division lead at 7-4, and with two of their last five games to be played against Washington, how they fare against the Redskins will go a long way to determining their success.

Washington Redskins @ New York Giants

Sunday December 5, 2010 – 1:00 PM ET

Paul Brown Stadium, Cincinnati, Ohio

Broadcast: FOX

NFL Odds: Redskins +7, Giants -7

Total: 43.5

The Redskins have lost three of their last four overall, but have been better on the road this season where they have secured three of their five wins. Washington hasn’t had success against the Giants in recent years, and are hoping that the presence of Donovan McNabb might change that.

NFL Odds: What The Redskins Will Have To Do To Win?

McNabb has won his last four games against the Giants as a member of the Eagles, and will need to play much better against New York than he has in recent weeks. The six-time Pro Bowl quarterback has never finished a season with more interceptions than touchdowns, but has tossed 11 touchdowns and 13 interceptions this year. McNabb will need help from his wide receivers, who have combined for a league-low four touchdowns this season. That will not be easy against the top-ranked pass defense in the league. The Redskins’ defense has been one of the NFL’s worst against both the run and pass, and will need to find a way to create turnovers as a means to slow the Giants’ attack.

NFL Odds: What The Giants Will Have To Do To Win?

New York ranks in the top-ten in the league for the rush and pass on both offense and defense, and will need to be firing on all cylinders to clinch their eighth win. The Giants rebounded from consecutive losses to the Eagles and Dallas Cowboys with a 24-20 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars after Eli Manning found Kevin Boss in the endzone with just over three minutes late, and will need to feed off the momentum they built towards the end of that victory. Justin Tuck and the New York defense sacked Jaguars’ quarterback David Garrard three times in the game’s final minutes, and if they can transfer that intensity over to this game, it will be a long night for McNabb and the Redskins’ offense.

NFL Odds: Outlook & Pick

The Giants have dominated this division rivalry over the past couple of years, and that shouldn’t change with New York at the forefront of the race in the NFC East. The Redskins have been a team in disarray since camp opened, and that won’t change this week. The Giants have two home games remaining on their schedule, and will need a strong finish to get back in to the postseason.

NFL Odds Pick: Giants -7
