NFL Odds – Broncos Looking To Rebound At Home Against Chiefs

November 14, 2010

The Football betting odds makers know that the Denver Broncos limped in to their bye week under the burden of four straight losses, with just two wins through their first eight games, the worst mark in the AFC West.

The Broncos return to Invesco Stadium at Mile High to take on the Kansas City Chiefs, who are looking to rebound themselves after a 23-20 overtime loss to the Oakland Raiders last weekend to avoid potentially slipping out of sole possession of first place in the division.

Kansas City Chiefs @ Denver Broncos

Sunday November 14, 2010 – 4:05 PM ET

Invesco Stadium at Mile High

Broadcast: CBS

NFL Odds: Chiefs -1, Broncos +1

Total: 43.5

Should the Broncos find a way to end their losing skid, they would push the Chiefs back in to a tie for first place in the AFC West with the idle Raiders. Kansas City has just one road win in four tries this season, but if they are going to have any shot at clinching the top spot they will have to find a way to put an end to that trend. Taking down a division rival that is 1-3 at home this year would be a good start.

NFL Odds: What The Chiefs Will Have To Do To Win?

Head coach Todd Haley will probably spend this week trying to place an emphasis on discipline after Kansas City was called for a season-high 12 penalties for 100 yards in the loss to the Raiders, wasting the perfect opportunity to gain some ground in the division. Discipline has been one of the biggest reasons the Chiefs have been so good early this year, as their two turnovers in the loss to Oakland was as many as they had committed in the previous five weeks combined. Kansas City will lean on its top-ranked running game, looking to get back to their strengths after registering a season-low 104 rushing yards in the loss to the Raiders.

NFL Odds: What The Broncos Will Have To Do To Win?

The Broncos will have to find a way to at least slow the Chiefs’ talented running back duo after allowing nearly 156 yards per game on the ground so far this season, the second-worst mark in the NFL. Denver hasn’t had much success moving the ball on the ground so far this year either, with a league-worst 67.3 yards per game on the ground. The Broncos have allowed 24 or more points in each of their four straight losses, and while the quarterback Kyle Orton and the passing game has been a pleasant surprise, head coach Josh McDaniels will need the rest of his team to step up to get back in the win column.

NFL Odds: Outlook & Pick

The fact that the Broncos are playing at home should be an advantage, but after allowing a franchise-worst 59 points in their last game at Invesco, and losing three of their first four in Denver this season, the difference may not be that tangible. Kansas City has dropped its last three road games by a combined 17 points, but should be in the positive as they bounce back with a win this week.

NFL Odds Pick: Chiefs -1
